Millie Bobby Brown Bravely Responds to Mean Comments About Her Appearance
Millie Bobby Brown confidently addresses criticism on her appearance. Discover her journey and style in the spotlight.
Millie Bobby Brown doesnât care what you think about her looks and is not afraid to say it. On February 27, the âStranger Thingsâ star posted a screenshot of the British Vogue article âNo One Cares How Old You Think Millie Bobby Brown Looksâ to her Instagram Stories, along with a âthank you.â Once again, haters have been coming for the 21-year-old actress in their Instagram and X comments, claiming she looks âoldâ after dying her hair blond.
Millie Bobby Brown has been promoting her new movie, âThe Electric State,â and hitting the red carpets. At the world premiere in Hollywood, she wore a metallic Annieâs Ibiza gown with a matching bolero. Her blonde hair was piled on top of her head, with long bangs grazing her eyelashes and loose tendrils falling around her neck. She looked grown up â far from the 12-year-old she was when âStranger Thingsâ began in 2016.
In Deadlineâs X post, many fans said she looked gorgeous, but numerous comments were cruel and disparaging. âHow long has Stranger Things been on hold? She looks 50,â wrote one commenter. âSheâs younger than her husband but she looks old enough to be his mother,â said another.
This is the second time Brown has clarified that sheâs tired of the negative comments. In January, the actress addressed Internet trolls with the Instagram Story âWomen Grow!! Iâm not sorry about it,â followed by a smiley face.
Just after Brown turned 18, she spoke with The Guilty Feminist podcast about figuring out who she was. Growing up in the public eye was difficult, but the added attention after becoming a legal adult was concerning.
âIn my life, I believe â in my opinion â I believe that shouldnât change anything, but itâs gross, and itâs true,â she said. âAnd so, I think itâs a very good representation of what is going on in the world and the way young girls are sexualized.â She went on to recount wearing a lower-cut dress at an awards ceremony when she was 16 and getting âcrucified for looking like a 16-year-old! Like, whatâs wrong with a 16-year-old?â
Thanks to becoming a star at age 12 after the Netflix series âStranger Thingsâ blew up, Brown has had to deal with an unfortunate and unfair amount of dissection of her appearance. Adolescence is already tricky enough, but add in constant coverage of everything you do, and you have to start to wonder how teenage celebrities maintain their self-confidence. Luckily, after a decade under a microscope, Brown seems to have already found the self-esteem she needs to stand up for herself.
