The actor has played the psychokinetically talented Eleven in the Netflix series since it debuted in 2016, having been cast in the role when she was 12 years old.
AdvertisementIn a new interview with Vanity Fair, she has opened up about the huge impact that spending her teenage years filming the show has had on her life. “I don’t have many friends, because of who I am,” she says.
“I didn’t go to school, so I don’t have the best social skills when it comes to people my own age and friendships,” she added. “I struggle with that quite a bit. I missed out on a few things. But I’m working through them.”

Stranger Things fans, meanwhile, are eagerly awaiting the show’s fifth season. The next run of episodes is expected to be split into two parts, just as season four was, although show creators the Duffer Brothers recently gave an interview to Variety in which they suggested that releasing any of season five in 2025 could be “quite the push”.

We’re getting on a call in about a couple weeks about it. I just know it was very important for us and Netflix that we get it out this year. But even that is quite the push.”
Netflix officially announced the end of filming on season five on December 20, sharing a host of photos from the set alongside the caption: “THAT’S A WRAP ON STRANGER THINGS. See you in 2025.”
That same say, Brown shared a video of herself tearfully reading a speech from her phone to say goodbye to the cast and crew. “Isn’t graduation supposed to bring relief, like you’re glad to leave behind the teachers and classmates? Not me.
“I am nowhere near ready to leave you guys,” she added. “I love each and every one of you, and I’ll forever carry the memories and bonds we’ve created together as a family. I love you. Thank you.”
