Mohamed Salah, with 44 goal involvements for Liverpool across all competitions this season, has established himself as the best player on the planet.
But the 32-year-old won't be winning the Champions League for a second time over on Merseyside after the Reds were eliminated from the competition by PSG last night.
Liverpool's hopes of European glory are over. Harvey Elliot gave them a 1-0 win at the Parc des Princes last week but, just 12 minutes into yesterday's clash at Anfield, PSG were level through Ousmane Dembele.
The Ligue 1 giants were the better side across the tie and, in the end, got the job done on penalties - with both Darwin Nunez and Curtis Jones missing from 12 yards.

At the end of the match, Salah was visibly upset.
The Egypt international, who has elevated his game to new heights this term, broke down in tears on the Anfield pitch as PSG basked in the glory of their sensational triumph.
However, the sight of Salah crying is likely to alarm Liverpool supporters - many of which would love to see the veteran stay.
It is common knowledge that the forward's contract is due to expire at the end of the season. At the current moment in time, no renewal seems to be in sight.

Salah has regularly implied that, if it was down to him, he'd stay at a club he's been nothing short of outstanding for ever since his arrival from Roma back in the summer of 2017.
Yet Liverpool haven't given him the deal he wants, meaning their talisman is just a number of months away from waltzing off into the sunset.
Of course, Salah's tears could be down to the pain of the defeat. Given the season he's having, he could be forgiven for thinking he was destined to taste European glory once again.
But it's hard to shake the feeling that his emotional reaction is more down to the fact that his last chance to win the Champions League with Liverpool, six years on from his first triumph in the competition with the club, has now passed him by.

Another player whose contract is due to expire come the summer is Virgil van Dijk.
Like Salah he's been outstanding this term, with the Netherlands international a rock at the back for the both part.
After the game, Van Dijk fronted up with a steely expression etched across his face.
But he was then seen talking to PSG chiefs in the Anfield tunnel, fuelling speculation that he could move to the Ligue 1 giants once his deal expires.

Liverpool have plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the future.
But Salah's tears and the sight of Van Dijk talking with PSG bigwigs suggests that two of their best stars may not be around for much longer.
While it was a crushing night for Liverpool, credit must go to their opponents.
It has taken PSG years to assemble a team that looks capable of going all the way in the biggest competition of the lot. Superstars such as Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Edinson Cavani, Neymar, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe have all come and gone without tasting glory on the European stage.

However, they finally look to be the real deal - with Dembele particularly impressive on the night.
Whether they can go all the way and finally land the trophy they want most, after years of trying, remains to be seen.
