Molly-Mae admits real reason she went on Love Island
The influencer revealed why she decided to go on the show
Former Love Island star Molly-Mae Hague has opened up about her reasons for joining the hit reality series in her revealing Amazon Prime documentary.
The influencer and TV personality shot to fame on ITV2's dating show in 2019, where she coupled up with professional boxer Tommy Fury. The duo went on to become the second-placed couple, losing out to Amber Gill and Greg O'Shea.
After welcoming their daughter Bambi into the world in 2023, Molly-Mae and Tommy announced their split in August of the previous year. Now, Molly-Mae is giving fans an unprecedented glimpse into her life post-Love Island with her Amazon Prime documentary.

Molly-Mae: Behind it All has its first three episodes available for streaming, and in the second episode, she discloses her initial motivations for participating in Love Island, reports Lancs Live. She also shared that her family chose not to watch her during the show's original airing.
In a touching exchange, Molly-Mae's grandmother inquires about her new business venture Maebe. Upon learning it's a clothing line, her nan remarks: "Very nice. Sexy clothes. If you happen to have any spare bits, send them my way, please."
She added: "I remember Love Island. All that sexy business and I said to Debbie 'I'm not going to watch Love Island'. She said but Molly's in it - I don't care. Then I watch them that night and oh my goodness."
Molly protests her innocence, saying "I didn't do anything", but her nan shoots back: "Well, we didn't know that." Her nan then apologises for previously labelling her granddaughter as vain.

In a later scene, as Molly-Mae prepares for one of her first major fashion events, she opens up about her motivations for appearing on the show. She confesses: "I was going on Love Island because I knew the kind of work I was in, it was going to help me. I did go into Love Island as a business move but I did end up finding love."
Before her stint on Love Island, Molly-Mae was already leveraging her Instagram presence by sharing sponsored posts and collaborating with brands.
However, after her successful run on the show, these partnerships expanded, leading to her promoting fashion lines and even being appointed as a creative director for a major company - a title she held for nearly two years.
Molly-Mae: Behind It All episodes 1-3 are streaming on Amazon Prime. The remaining episodes will release in Spring 2025.
