The group held a press conference on Thursday at Kitson in Los Angeles to outline their grievances and collect the 50 signatures required to kick off the recall process officially.
According to their statement, the recall effort is fueled by Newsomās āgross mismanagementā during the catastrophic LA County fires, which they claim were exacerbated by inadequate resources and delayed responses. They argue that Newsomās leadership has led to soaring crime rates, skyrocketing living costs, and a homelessness crisis that continues to spiral out of control.
The notice of intent to recall, which will be formally served to the governor this week, outlines a litany of grievances against Newsom, stating: āGavin Newsomās tenure has been marked by a series of catastrophic failures that directly impact our daily lives. His gross mismanagement during the Los Angeles County fires, with inadequate resources and delayed responses, left communities devastated.ā
āUnder his watch, weāve seen an unbearable rise in the cost of living ā from gasoline to electricity to insurance. Crime rates have soared, with policies seemingly more lenient on offenders than on ensuring our safety.ā

Despite our high tax contributions, thereās little to show for it; our funds are misallocated to political agendas rather than our pressing needs. This recall is our call for leadership that prioritizes Californiansā safety, affordability, and well-being over political games. Itās time for change.ā
āThis recall isnāt just another political maneuver ā weāre seeing lifelong Democrats join our cause because Governor Newsom has failed every Californian, regardless of party,ā said Randy Economy, Chairman of SavingCalifornia.vote. āWhen families canāt afford groceries, when businesses are fleeing the state, and when our streets are unsafe, thatās not a partisan issue. This recall is different because Newsom himself is different ā heās become completely disconnected from the reality of everyday Californians struggling to survive in the state heās mismanaging.ā
In response to the recent push for a recall, Governor Newsomās office released a statement emphasizing his current priorities: āGovernor Newsom is focused on the fires and marshaling resources for the extensive recovery ā not politics. Readers still should have the context that the same group of far right Trump acolytes have launched 7 different recall attempts against the governor since heās taken office, each of which have failed spectacularly.ā
āEven Republican Party leaders have criticized these repeated attempts as a brazen campaign finance āgrift,ā and the recall organizers have been sued by their own donors for pocketing funds raised previously. For example, they didnāt even turn in a single signature in their last attempt.ā
