Supermodel Naomi Campbell is appealing against her ban from being a charity trustee, with the star claiming a fake email was used to impersonate her.
Last year, she was disqualified from being a trustee at her charity, Fashion for Relief, for five years. The Charity Commission's report found serious mismanagement of funds including hotel stays and spa treatments. Campbell was one of three trustees to be disqualified as a result of the probe.
The Charity Commission, which registers and regulates charities in England and Wales, opened an inquiry into Fashion for Relief in 2021. It was dissolved and removed from the register of charities earlier last year. It had been set up with the aim of uniting the fashion industry to relieve poverty and advance health and education by making grants to other organisations and providing resources after global disasters.
At the time, she said she was âextremely concernedâ by the regulatorâs findings, adding that she was ânot in control of my charityâ having âput the control in the hands of a lawyerâ. And now, her case is due to come before a tribunal on Friday, with Naomi saying she wants to âensure that those responsible are held accountable and justice is done.â

Naomi's representatives claimed documents submitted to the commission gave a false impression of her involvement in running the UK charity, along with evidence of a fake email account which they claimed was used to impersonate the supermodel in communications with lawyers.
Her reps also said she was therefore not made aware of the allegations in the inquiry and didn't have the chance to answer them. In a statement on Wednesday, Naomi explained: âI am grateful to the tribunal for allowing me to appeal the Charity Commissionâs findings after considering the evidence I have submitted.
âEver since the commissionâs report, I have fought to uncover the facts. What has been unearthed so far is shocking. I want to shine a light on how easy it is to fake identities online and prevent anybody else going through what I have been through. I want to ensure that those responsible are held accountable and justice is done.
âHaving begun legal action, I will have more to say in due course. This is just the beginning. As I have said before, I have never undertaken philanthropic work for personal gain, nor will I ever do so.â
