Netflix fans say new drama with 'mind-blowingly good acting' is a 'masterpiece'
Adolescence dropped onto Netflix on March 13
More than a week after its launch, Netflix fans are still flooding social media with praise for Adolescence.
Revolving around a 13-year-old boy accused of murdering a classmate, the drama written by Stephen Graham and Jack Thorne, explores the dark and nuanced themes of being a teenager in the modern world, with the influence of the "manosphere" and incel culture.

Adolescence has received widespread critical acclaim, with fans praising its powerful message and impressive acting performances. One fan has taken to social media to express how "mind-blowingly good" the acting is.
London-born actor Ashley Walters, known best for playing Dushane in Top Boy, plays DI Bascombe in Adolescence and leads the team dealing with Jamie's arrest.
Netflix shared some interview footage of Owen Cooper, who played leading role Jamie, and Erin Doherty, who plays psychologist Briony. The interview clip shows the pair discussing episode three, which is made up almost entirely of an interaction between the two characters.
Under the post, X user @Texasjiff commented: "this series had mindblowingly good acting throughout. it was a masterpiece", and @VboddapatiKris agreed: "Absolutely mindblowing this young lad is…he deserves all the praises & accolades".
@Antarius1750 commented: "Ep 3 was a masterpiece. They all were excellent but these 2 were exceptional.", and @Fuzztone said: "Owen Coopers performance throughout was amazing".
It was Cooper's first time ever acting before, and co-writer and star of the show Stephen Graham has spoken out publicly about how "proud" they are to have cast him in the role.
X user @AaronF_1992 commented: "Amazing show specially for Owen's first performance ever. He deserves rewards for his first performance", and @Shanice_Alsina added: "He did such a good job that I’m now scared of the actor. He played that role so well".
@JForwardFilms wrote: "Owen is absolutely amazing. What a bright career, if he wants it.", and @Paul21210383 said: "This was the best episode and that's saying something cos ep1 was fantastic. Adolescence is unique because each episode was filmed in one shot, with Netflix having explained that they did around ten takes for each episode.
