Netflix's The Thursday Murder Club Means Pierce Brosnan Finally Has A Franchise Than Can Outlast His James Bond Series
Pierce Brosnanâ??s new franchise explained.
In 2025, Pierce Brosnan is set to appear in the book-to-movie adaptation, The Thursday Murder Club, and this movie may be the actor's chance to be in a franchise that lasts longer than his time as James Bond. The Irish actor's career first began in 1980, yet he didn't truly rise to prominence until 1995, when he became the fifth actor to portray the iconic Ian Fleming character, James Bond. Brosnan remained in the role for a total of four films, and since then, he has appeared in a few other major franchises, though none have been particularly long-lasting.
The Thursday Murder Club is the first in a series of mystery novels, written by Richard Osman. In the original book, a group of four British retirees band together to solve the murder of a property developer, who was killed within their own retirement community. The consequent books continue to follow Elizabeth, Ron, Ibrahim, and Joyce as they take on even more murder cases. As of now, the movie adaptation of The Thursday Murder Club includes Brosnan, Helen Mirren, Ben Kingsley, and Celia Imrie. The movie is set for release on Netflix sometime in 2025.
If Netflix Adapts All 5 Books In The Thursday Murder Club Series, Pierce Brosnan Will Outlast His 007 RoleWhat Brosnan's Thursday Murder Club Role MeansAt the moment, there are four Thursday Murder Club books: The Thursday Murder Club, The Man Who Died Twice, The Bullet That Missed, and The Last Devil to Die. Osman has a fifth book in the works, which is set for release this year. In this way, if Brosnan's upcoming movie does well, there is a chance that this franchise could outlast Brosnan's time as James Bond, at least in terms of installments. Netflix could easily adapt all five Thursday Murder Club books, giving Brosnan his longest-running franchise yet, although it may not take as many years as Bond did.
RelatedNetflix's Next Star-Studded Murder Mystery Is The Total Opposite Of Knives Out In One Crucial WayAlthough Netflix's adaptation of Richard Osman's The Thursday Murder Club is a star-studded Agatha Christie homage, don't expect another Knives Out.
Although the number of movies in the Thursday Murder Club versus James Bond seems somewhat arbitrary, the difference is quite important for Brosnan. The actor has had a long and successful career, but he is often remembered best for roles like Bond, which were not only iconic, but long-lasting. If Thursday Murder Club surpasses Bond in terms of movies, then Brosnan may see a boost in fame in the next few years, and his role as Ron could reach the same heights as Bond, though the characters are quite dissimilar.
How Likely Is It That All 5 Thursday Murder Club Books Will Be Adapted? The Thursday Murder Club Has A Strong StartFive movies is quite a lot, but there is a chance that all five Thursday Murder Club books could be adapted. What will ultimately decide this is whether the first movie does well on Netflix. For the most part, the streaming service is fueled by viewership numbers, so if Thursday Murder Club ends up becoming a trending project, then there's a good chance it will continue as a franchise. However, without the right viewership numbers, Netflix could easily put an end to the series before it even really begins.
Luckily, Thursday Murder Club already has a strong start. The Thursday Murder Club cast is incredibly star-studded, including David Tennant and Richard E. Grant among the leads. Furthermore, it has a fantastic crew behind it, including Chris Columbus as director and Steven Spielberg as a producer. All in all, The Thursday Murder Club could very well be Pierce Brosnan's next big hit.
