New Girl star Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, who also appeared in Fast and the Furious, has died at the age of 61 as his family paid tribute to the Hollywood actor
Actor Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, best known for his roles in New Girl, Street Fighter and Magnum P.I, has died at the age of 61. As reported by TMZ, Peter died in Phoenix, Arizona due to heart complications. His death was announced by his family on Monday night, with his son Manoah Peter Tuiasosopo sharing an emotional statement on Facebook.
The heartfelt statement read: "With a heavy heart, my family and I want to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers. Our father Peter N. Tuiasosopo passed away this morning at 3:16am." He further expressed: "My dad lived an amazing life and in no way does his impact stop here. We will continue to live with him in spirit, and as saddened as we are, he is without a doubt in Heaven with his brothers, sisters, parents, daughter, and Jesus, and no longer in pain. His strength, love, compassion, and kindness will forever be felt", reports the Mirror.

Peter's son also noted that the star was "a trailblazer for Polynesian actors in Hollywood."
Starting his acting journey in 1991, Tuiasosopo soon became a force on screen, appearing in the recent Magnum PI series but also in shows like Mayans MC, New Girl, Black-ish, Ray Donovan, and NCIS. His portrayal of E-Honda in the 1994 action flick Street Fighter remains his most celebrated role, alongside industry stalwarts Jean Claude Van Damme, Kylie Minogue, Ming-Na Wen, and Raul Julia.
Tuiasosopo also appeared in other major films such as Fast and the Furious, Charlie's Angels, The Scorpion King, BASEketball and Austin Powers: Goldmember.
Ming-Na Wen took to Twitter (X) to pay her respects: "I'm so very sad to learn the passing of my 'Honda', Peter N. Tuiasosopo. We had a blast on 'Streetfighter.' Many fond memories working with Peter. A teddy bear of a man. Condolences to his family and loved ones."
Fans also shared their tributes online, with one person writing: "Peter Navy Tuiasosopo (E-Honda, Street Fighter Live Action Film 1994) has passed away. Thank You, Mr Tuiasosopo for making the character come alive. RIP."
Another wrote: "We've lost a legend! Peter Navy Tuiasosopo, best known for his role in the live-action *Street Fighter*, has passed away. His larger-than-life presence brought unforgettable characters to life on screen. Thank you for the memories, Peter!".
