New 'The Traitors' sketch to air for Red Nose Day and here's who's taking part
Fan favourites Alexander, Charlotte, Fozia, Linda and Minah from The Traitors are back for a Red Nose Day Special
A new sketch from Comic Relief includes fan favourites from this year’s series of The Traitors. Returning for the sketch are Alexander, Fozia, Linda, Minah and Charlotte, this time with a fake Australian accent rather than a Welsh one.
The reunion sketch sees the Traitors go head-to-head in a bid to win the Rare Ruby Red Nose and be crowned the funniest Traitor of them all, in the name of raising money for Red Nose Day. They returned to the breakfast table, this time without the anxiety of being "traitors" or "faithfuls".
It’s been described as a "battle of the laughs that will deliver a real treat for fans of the show". For the latest TV and showbiz gossip sign up to our newsletter
The Rare Ruby Nose is one of six Noses up for grabs this Red Nose Day, and you could be unboxing your very own Rare Ruby Nose whenever you purchase a Nose, and are now available to buy individually for £2.50 or as a pack on Amazon. Customers supposedly have a 1 in 125 chance of unboxing a Rare Ruby Nose whenever they purchase a Nose.
This year to celebrate 40 years of Comic Relief, they have released iconic noses from the 80s, 90s, noughties and 2010s as well as some new noses including the aforementioned Rare Ruby Nose. Comic Relief is a UK charity that uses the power of entertainment and comedy to work towards a world free from poverty. Since launching in 1985, the charity has raised over £1.6 billion thanks to the public and their partners.
(Image: Daniel Loveday/Comic Relief)Charlotte said: “It is so wonderful to have the chance to be part of a sketch for Comic Relief. It's a charity I've grown up with, always watching the show on BBC, texting in my donation and wearing my Red Nose to school, so it's really special to have the chance to contribute.”
The money raised by the charity could help put food on plates and roofs over heads, as well as keep little ones safe and help support families affected by conflict here in the UK and around the world.
Alexander said: “Comic Relief is one of those things you grow up with and it’s an institution. You watch it every year as a child and then as an adult. To be part of something like this is such a special thing to be able to do. I’m just incredibly excited to be part of that huge history and of course this year it’s the 40th birthday, so, it’s such a special time to be involved.”
He added: “We all associate Red Nose Day with giving and with charity and with doing something for other people. That’s something that has been enormously important to me. I’ve talked about my brother and the importance of helping people with special needs and I think the beauty of Red Nose Day is that it helps so many people who are disadvantaged from so many backgrounds. And that’s a cause I can really, really, really get behind.”
In the sketch each Traitor is tasked with donning a classic Comic Relief Red Nose and taking it in turns to make their fellow Traitors laugh by completing a different task. The video is said to ‘bring us more of Linda’s theatrical flair; Alexander displaying his operatic prowess whilst juggling; Minah’s best dad joke featuring an iconic head turn; Charlotte’s ever-changing accent; Fozia’s very best Claudia Winkleman impression, and so much more’. Fans can watch the sketch in full on Comic Relief’s YouTube channel.
Fozia said: “It was lovely to catch up with my fellow Traitors cast and be part of making history and celebrating Comic Relief’s 40th birthday. There is a level of joy you get from putting a smile on someone’s face, and raising funds at the same time for worthy causes makes it very rewarding."
If you’d like to take part in the day, there are lots of ways to do so, you can visit the website here to find out more.
Red Nose Day will be returning to our screens on Friday March 21 from 7pm on BBC One and iPlayer.
