No Selena Gomez and 'Challengers' snubbed: film fans lament "insane" Oscars shocks
Film fans online have raged over some "insane" Oscars nominations snubs, from Challengers to Selena Gomez.
The Oscars nominations have been revealed and there are several snubs that film fans are not happy about.
Jacques Audiardâs original musical thriller Emilia PĂ©rez leads the pack with a massive 13 nominations, including Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress for Karla SofĂa GascĂłn and Best Supporting Actress for Zoe Saldaña.
Brady Corbetâs architectural epic The Brutalist and Jon M. Chuâs starry Broadway adaptation Wicked came in tied for second place, with 10 nominations each. Other movies with multiple nods include Bob Dylan biopic A Complete Unknown and papal drama Conclave with eight apiece, and Sean Bakerâs Anora, which received six nominations.
However, as ever, there were some notable omissions. Luca Guadagnino missed out twice with his 2024 movies, Queer and Challengers, to the surprise of film fans. Also missing out were Jamie Lee Curtis (The Last Showgirl), Margaret Qualley (The Substance), Nicole Kidman (Babygirl), Selena Gomez (Emilia Pérez), Denzel Washington (Gladiator II) and Angelina Jolie (Maria).

Also missing out was Kneecap, which neither the band nor fans were happy about.
The semi-autobiographical comedy-drama based on the Irish hip-hop trio of the same name, Kneecap had been tipped as a contender in both the Best International Feature Film and Best Original Song categories, but todayâs nomination announcement revealed that they were shut out of both.
The Northern Irish band, comprising of Mo Chara, MĂłglaĂ Bap and DJ PrĂłvaĂ, shared their reaction to being snubbed on social media, posting âFuck the Oscars. Free Palestine.â on X and Instagram.
