Oh, Baby, Baby! Ben Affleck Reveals the Reason He Relates to This Mega Pop Star
Ben Affleck shares one thing in common with Britney Spears.
Ben Affleck is not a fan of paparazzi following him around, and for this reason, he empathizes with Britney Spears.
âI can remember a long time ago ⊠I really had a lot of empathy for Britney Spears because I remember that it seemed like ⊠you see all this [expletive] that comes through,â he said on the April 24 episode of âThis Past Weekend.â
Affleck shared that he didnât know Spears but added, âHaving had my own experiences myself, I knew these are people who are following her around in a time where she may or may not have been having difficulty.â
The âAccountantâ star explained that photographers âharangueâ and âhassleâ stars like Spears to get them riled up. He then compared the paparazzi to people who poke sticks at an animal, and wind up getting growled at as a result.
âThis isnât really news. Itâs not real. Itâs not what would be happening if this effect wasnât taking place. And thatâs where I thought, âOkay, the sort of wise thing to do is just maintain oneâs perspective and try to remove yourself a little bit, which is what I would like to do,â Affleck told the host Theo Von.

Affleck has been caught many times looking upset in public, and he told Kevin Hart during season 4 of Peacockâs âHart to Hartâ that itâs because heâs shy.
He continued, âI also donât like a lot of attention. Thatâs why people see me and theyâre like, âWhyâs this dude always mad?â Because somebody has their camera and sticks it in my face, and Iâm like, âOkay, here we go.'â
The âGood Will Huntingâ star added that his face just tends to look unhappy and has been trolled by his family members.
âI also might be somebody who I do find myself, Iâll be sitting at home, and theyâre like, âWhatâs wrong?â âNothing. Nothingâs wrong,'â he said.
Affleck joked, âI have resting hard face.â
It seems Affleck and Spears have more in common than they thought. In Spearsâ 2013 documentary, âI Am Britney Jean,â she admits that her onstage persona is much different than it is in real life.
âI have always been kind of shy since I was a little girl. Itâs who I am to be modest, so I really canât help it. I turn into this different person,â she said.
Spears recalled, âThere was a time in my life when I couldnât ever leave the house without 20 cars following me.â
She continued, âI felt very alienated from the public. But as time passed, they lightened up, and they kind of went away after I wouldnât come out of the house for like two years.â
