More than two decades ago, he made history as the youngest-ever best actor winner for his haunting performance in 2002’s Holocaust drama “The Pianist.” Since then, he has remained a steady presence in Hollywood, taking on roles in high-profile films such as “King Kong,” “Midnight in Paris,” and “The Grand Budapest Hotel.” However, despite his consistent work, Brody’s post-Oscar career hasn’t always positioned him as a frontrunner for a second Academy Award — until now.
With a Golden Globe win already under his belt for “The Brutalist,” Brody has re-emerged as a formidable contender in the best actor race. The Academy Awards, better known as the Oscars, is Hollywood’s most prestigious artistic award in the film industry. Since 1927, nominees and winners have been selected by members of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS). Nineteen branches are represented within the nearly 11,000-person membership. The branches are actors, animators, associates, casting directors, cinematographers, costume designers, directors, documentary, executives, film editors, makeup and hairstylists, marketing and public relations, members-at-large, members-at-large (artists’ representatives), music, producers, production design, short films, sound, visual effects and writers.
