Paloma Faith recreates 'famous and iconic' BRIT Awards performance
Paloma Faith has sparked calls for an award after she spoofed her own epic BRIT Awards performance ahead of this weekend's ceremony.
The 43-year-old chart-topping star has been bashing out hits since 2009 - including her critically acclaimed 2014 album, A Perfect Contradiction. The record, which included tracks produced by Pharrell Williams, was nominated for a string of awards and included smash singles Can't Rely on You and Ready for the Good Life.
Arguably the most recognised track from the album was Only Love Can Hurt Like This - which Paloma performed at the 2015 BRIT Awards, where she was also nominated for and won the British Female Solo Artist. During her live performance during the ceremony that year, Paloma belted out her lyrics while artificial rain poured down upon her.
Taking to Instagram on Friday ahead of the 2025 ceremony, the singer - whose latest album, The Glorification of Sadness, was released in February last year and reached number two in the charts - raised laughs as she recreated her iconic performance. Taking a seat in a garden, the singer addressed the camera with a pair of swimming goggles resting on her forehead.

But thatâs ok, because itâs time for me, like every year, to recreate my famous, iconic performance of Only Love Can Hurt Like This that I did in 2015, which is⌠10 years ago."
She then pulled her goggles down over her eyes and started singing her 2014 single with enthusiasm. An assistant then dropped a pint of water on the star mid-song - and she ended her performance sounding a little deflated.
The hilarious sketch drew both outrage over the fact she is not nominated for a 2025 BRIT Award, amusement, and demands that she win a gong for her acting. One fan wrote in the comments: "How were you not nominated??? Even if you didnât get a Brit - that performance deserves an Oscar!"
Another typed: "The Glorification of Sadness was my Album of the Year which is just as good if not better than a Brit nomination tbh." And a further fan consoled the singer, writing: "Actually shocked that youâre not nominated this year after another amazing album and an ever better tour! You donât need a trophy, youâre a winner in all of your fans eyes."

@palomafaith/Instagram)Speaking to the Mirror last year about her performance, Paloma said: "It was such a big deal that night. It was the first time my record company said 'You can have whatever budget you like and you can creatively direct your whole performance and effectively do what you want.'
"I knew what I wanted to do quite quickly and I contacted my old dance teacher, who happened to be an incredible choreographer, Wayne McGregor of Random Dance Company. I met him when I was 13 and he was really empowering for me as a kid, I called him and was like 'Can we do a collaboration for my BRITs performance? I'd like to sort of illustrate I've come full circle and you've always supported me,' and it was quite moving in that sense."
The hitmaker continued: "I know everyone saw this thing that was kind of unseen at that point at the BRITs, it was like my brain on the stage but it was quite moving for me because it was also me saying 'Thank you' to someone who helped me when I was young and didn't have as much confidence."
The 2025 BRIT Awards will take place at London's O2 Arena on Saturday night - with Charli XCX the performer to beat as she is nominated in an impressive five categories. Since winning her Best British Female Artist award, the BRITS have binned off gendered categories - meaning a mix of stars stand to win the British Artist of the Year gong. Those in the mix include Beabadoobee, Central Cee, Dua Lipa, Fred again.., Jamie xx, Michael Kiwanuka, Nia Archives, Rachel Chinouriri, Sam Fender - and queen of Brat, Charli XCX. The awards will be hosted by comedian Jack Whitehall.
