Paris Hilton Raises $800,000 for Los Angeles Fire Relief Funds
Paris Hilton announces that she has raised more than $800,000 for Los Angeles fire relief.
After losing her Malibu home in the ongoing Los Angeles fires, Paris Hilton has raised $800,000 in emergency relief funds in 72 hours. Working with her non-profit, 11:11 Media Impact, Hilton quickly mobilized to help in the wake of the disastrous fires.
She initially pledged $100,000 to help families affected via the Community Organized Relief Effort (CORE), promising to match up to $100,000 in donations. She has also spent time volunteering at Baby2Baby and at the Pasadena Humane Society, where she fostered a surrendered dog named Zuzu.
Yesterday, Hilton announced that she had granted $150,000 of the $800,000 raised to GoFundMeâs Wildfire Relief Fund to provide 150 Altadena families with immediate cash assistance.
âAfter meeting with people impacted by the Los Angeles wildfires, I heard heartbreaking stories of loss but also inspiring resilience,â Hilton said in a statement, via Variety. âMy goal is to help as many as I can as quickly as possible, which is why Iâm making a $150,000 grant to the GoFundMe Wildfire Relief Fund, providing direct cash assistance. Hundreds of families will receive this assistance immediately ensuring they can address their needs and begin to rebuild their lives today. My heart is with everyone affected by this devastating situation, and my team and I at 11:11 Media Impact will continue to show up.â
The artist revealed that she lost her Malibu home last week, saying she âcouldnât processâ the news after seeing the place where her home was burned to ashes. âThis house wasnât just a place to liveâ It was where we dreamed, laughed, and created the most beautiful memories as a family,â she wrote. âIt was where Phoenixâs little hands made art that Iâll cherish forever, where love and life filled every corner⌠itâs devastating beyond words.â
Writing on Instagram, Hilton said she was âheartbroken to see everyone whose lives have been uprooted by these devastating firesâ and wanted to be of service to the community. âWhile Iâve lost my Malibu home, my thoughts are with the countless families who have lost so much moreâtheir homes, cherished keepsakes, the communities they loved, and their sense of stability,â she wrote.
More than 10,000 structures have burned down in multiple fires around the Los Angeles area, including in Pacific Palisades, Malibu, and Altadena, with more than 130,000 people displaced by the blazes. Numerous celebrities have also lost their homes, including Mandy Moore, Billy Crystal, and JhenÊ Aiko.
