This year, the NFL’s Super Bowl LIX sees the Kansas City Chiefs facing the Philadelphia Eagles. It’s the second time in three years that the teams will play each other for a ring — and the third straight time the Chiefs are playing for a championship. But the backbone of each team is its quarterback. For the chiefs, that’s 29-year-old Patrick Mahomes, and for the Eagles, it’s 26-year-old Jalen Hurts.
It’s no secret both of these athletes have tremendous skill. But which of them has more money?

He spent most of his collegiate career playing career at the University of Alabama but transferred to the University of Oklahoma for his final season. In 2022, Hurts was drafted by the Philadelphia Eagles, having been selected 53rd overall in the second round. Though he didn’t immediately start, by the end of his first season, he held the starting position.
Hurts took the Eagles to the Super Bowl in 2023, where they ultimately lost to the Chiefs. Still, that same year, he signed a massive contract worth $255 million over five years, with $180 million guaranteed. For a short time, he was the NFL’s highest-paid player of all time. Today, he’s worth an estimated $30 million. Hurts reportedly has plenty of incentive opportunities in addition to his contract that will allow him to make even more money.
Mahomes is on his way to being known as the greatest NFL quarterback of all time. He married his high school sweetheart, Brittany Matthews, in 2022; they have been together since 2012. The couple shares three children.
Right now, most would agree the title of best quarterback belongs to Tom Brady, but things could easily change considering Mahomes has potentially another decade of playing time in the years ahead. In 2017, Mahomes was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round; 10th overall. He wasn’t initially a major prospect but quickly climbed the ranks once scouts caught wind of how fast his football traveled. Mahomes’ first contract was worth $16 million over four years, but today, he’s on a 10-year contract with the Chiefs worth a staggering $503 million; it’s the highest-valued sports contract in history. Mahomes is reportedly worth a whopping $90 million today.
