Hollyoaks star Paul Danan is understood to have died after he "slipped and fell" in a luxury apartment near Bristol, reports claim.
The news of his death was announced on Thursday, with his management releasing a statement that described him as a "beacon of light" and praised his exceptional talent and kindness. The statement read: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the tragic news of the passing of @pauldanan at just 46 years old."
"Known for his television presence, exceptional talent, and unwavering kindness, Paul was a beacon of light to so many. His untimely departure will leave irreplaceable voids in the lives of all who knew him."
"During this difficult time, we kindly request respect and privacy for Paul's family, friends, and colleagues. No further comments will be made at this time."
According to reports, neighbours claimed that an ambulance was called to the luxury flat on Wednesday evening after the accident, the Daily Mail reports.
Avon and Somerset Police confirmed that they attended a property in Brislington, Bristol, where a man in his 40s was declared deceased by paramedics.Â
"His family have been notified and our thoughts are with them. They have asked for people to respect their privacy during this incredibly difficult time," the statement read, reports the Mirror.
"His death is not being treated as suspicious and officers are preparing a file for the coroner."
Paul was due in court on driving and drug offences the day his death was announced. He was set to plead at Warrington Magistrates' Court in Cheshire, charged with possession of cocaine and cannabis, according to court documents.
He faced accusations of driving under the influence of drugs on October 2, 2024, in Warrington. Six months prior to his death, Paul had a brush with death, suffering respiratory failure which he attributed to vaping addiction.
In intensive care, Paul also battled pneumonia at Whipps Cross Hospital, where doctors warned him against smoking again, cautioning that it could lead to a life dependent on oxygen.
After quitting cigarettes in 2021, Paul turned to vaping, believing it to be a healthier option. His new habit became an obsession, as he admitted: "Everywhere I went I'd have my vape with me. I'd always have one in my hand, I would even go to sleep with it, like a comfort thing."
He recollected his harrowing time in the hospital, attributing his critical condition to vaping: "I was on a machine in ICU and ended up with pneumonia. My family were warned that I might not make it through the night. I'm so lucky."
Paul received an unequivocal warning from his physician, who laid it out for him: if he picked up smoking again, he could find himself permanently reliant on an oxygen tank.

When Oh Doo Ri saw this, she sat down with Ji Sook to share a drink. After Ji Sook became drunk, she confided her feelings to Doo Ri, whom Ji Sook mistook to be her mother. Having understood Ji Sook's true feelings, Doo Ri relayed her sincere apology to her daughter. The following day, Ji Sook learned from Choi Min Seok (In Gyo Jin) that she had a conversation with Doo Ri instead of her mother, making viewers curious if Ji Sook will realize that Doo Ri is actually her mother and whether the mother-daughter duo will resolve their misunderstanding.
The whereabouts of the missing Janet
Janet (Kim Hae Sook) began to cross off her bucket list, one by one. However, she was startled by the arrival of the mysterious taxi driver in police attire (Kim Byung Ok), who told her that she had crossed the line. Janet then left a letter to Ji Sook, telling her that she will be traveling, and disappeared. Janet also showed tears after visiting her father's grave, and the taxi driver stated that this will be the last time, raising curiosity about what his words could signify.
Oh Doo Ri's relationship with Park Joon and Daniel Han
Doo Ri, who was upset about Ji Sook, cried in Park Joon's (Yoo Jung Hoo's) arms. However, Daniel's stalker Yoo Ji Ahn (Woo Do Im), who had been watching the two through the CCTV, circulated their photo at UNIS Entertainment. Although Daniel appeared disappointed, he decided to believe Doo Ri's words when she denied having a relationship with Park Joon.
Furthermore, Doo Ri became nervous about Ji Ahn following her, but Daniel added to the tension by revealing that a suspicious vehicle was tailing them. Daniel showcased a resolute attitude, telling Doo Ri that it was finally time to end the situation, raising questions about how Joon will react to Doo Ri's relationship with Daniel and how Daniel will face off against the stalker.
