Paul Young's five-word message to Gino D'Acampo after chef stole from his home
Ahead of a new tour, singing icon Paul Young has said he forgives TV chef Gino D'Acampo for breaking into his home and stealing items worth £4,000
Eighties singing sensation Paul Young has spoken out about his feelings towards disgraced TV personality Gino D'Acampo.
D'Acampo was convicted of stealing from Paul's London home in 1998, and sentenced to two years in prison. And the singer has made clear how he feels about D'Acampo years later.
Ahead of his upcoming tour, which will includes a no-holds-barred Q&A session, Young spoke to the Mirror about the experience of being robbed. After being asked about the TV chef, Paul said: "I've only commented on it once, and that was on the Jeremy Vine show shortly after it happened.
"You know, I wish him well. I hope he comes out of this okay.
"We all make mistakes in our life and I got most of what was stolen, I got most of it back." D'Acampo, then 21, stole £4,000 worth of guitars and a platinum record from Young's home while working as a waiter.
Young revealed that he has encountered D'Acampo on several occasions over the years, including at ITV studios, and has forgiven him for his past actions. He added: "Sometimes I'd go to ITV to be on Good Morning Britain or something like that and someone said, 'Gino D'Acampo's here' but then I think they move people around so that we conveniently don't bump into each other.

"But I have done a couple of times. I'd go, 'oh, hi. How are you?'. Everything's alright. I absolutely agree [with forgiveness]."
Gino, famed for his television appearances, has recently been embroiled in controversy amid accusations of inappropriate and intimidating behaviour on set, which he has denied.
'I couldn't stop'

Singer Paul also opened up to the Mirror about his traumatic fall while on holiday. During an accident on the Greek island of Santorini, Paul sustained multiple fractures to his leg and underwent intensive care with three emergency blood transfusions.
"I fell and my leg cracked as soon as I hit the step," Paul revealed. "Once I'd gone down, I couldn't stop.
"There was no handrail, so nothing to hold on to. I just thought, 'I've lost control'.
"I fell down to three or four more steps, fracturing my leg again and again. It was a multi-fracture.
"When I came to a stop, I looked down and my leg was in a slightly weird position, underneath my bottom. I thought 'I don't like that. My leg shouldn't be like that', so I tried to straighten it up and that's when the pain started''."
Fortunately, following an extensive recovery period involving regular physiotherapy and hydrotherapy rehabilitation, Paul is now recuperating and eager to embark on his upcoming tour. After concluding his UK performances in early June, Paul will cross the Atlantic for a joint tour in the United States with Australian-American artist Rick Springfield.
To prepare, he has engaged the services of a personal trainer. He reveals his commitment to staying active, stating: "I've got a fitness girl coming in to make sure I'm able to get around.
"When I've got days off, and whenever I get back, I'll be training. I'm just trying to do as much as I can."
