Piers Morgan's three-word reaction to Meghan and Harry meeting LA fire victims
Piers Morgan shared his thoughts after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle visited the victims of the LA wildfires.
Over the past week, devastating wildfires have destroyed neighbourhoods in Los Angeles, and stars such as Sir Anthony Hopkins and Adam Brody have lost their homes.
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were pictured hugging victims on Friday (January 10) at an evacuation centre in Pasadena. Still, their offer of support has sparked backlash, with critics branding their relief efforts as "disaster tourists".
In a new interview, the Uncensored presenter, 59, reacted to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex attending the scenes where they hugged those who had lost their homes as the ferocious fires continued to blaze - just hours before it was confirmed the death toll in the state had climbed to 24.
They were described as "disaster tourists" after being photographed at a food bank for those displaced by the disaster.
"I'm very cynical," Piers told the Daily Telegraph. "I think it's purely for self-promotional reasons."
Piers went on to suggest the Sussexes' royal title should be removed after they "decamped to America".
"I find it pretty sickening, actually," Piers continued. "I just think that King Charles, should remove their titles."
He added: "You can go and do what you like as C-list celebrities - that's pretty much how they're viewed in America now. If you want to do this for personal, self-aggrandising reasons, fine, but you're not doing it as the Duke and Duchess of Sussex anymore."
The former royals issued a statement last week before they visited Pasadena, sending their support to those affected by the tragedy.
It read: "If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do.
"And be sure to check in with any disabled or elderly neighbors to see if they need help evacuating. Some families and people have been left with nothing. Please consider donating clothing, children's toys & clothing, and other essentials. The American Red Cross is on the ground helping those in need."
The Duke and Duchess were keen to provide any support they could, according to the mayor, who said they were "great people" with "great personalities".
Harry and Meghan were seen handing out food parcels at the evacuation centre to those affected by the devastating fires at the Pasadena Convention Centre.
The couple were also pictured hugging José Andrés, the founder of World Central Kitchen, which distributes free hot meals to the public and emergency crews in the wake of the wildfires.
