Actress and model Poppy Delevingne has announced that she is expecting her first child with partner Archie Keswick.
The 38-year-old, who is the sister of Cara and Chloe Delevingne, said becoming a mother is âall Iâve ever wantedâ as she shared the pregnancy news in an interview with Elle magazine.
Delevingne revealed she first discovered she was pregnant during London Fashion Week when her clothes began feeling tighter at a second fitting for a Burberry show.
âShe really is all Iâve ever wanted,â Delevingne told the magazine.
She added: âThe people that are closest to me know how much I have wanted this my whole life.
âIâve watched a lot of my friends do it, I have nine godchildren, I am an auntie, and I think theyâve known that since I was a little girl, I dreamt of being a mumma.
âThere were points during the last few years where I thought that maybe this wouldnât happen for me. Iâd made my peace with that. So I think when we told people the news they were very emotional and happy.â
Delevingne had been keeping âvery tight-lippedâ about the pregnancy, but felt there was no chance of hiding her bump anymore as she is due in May.
âI always imagined that if this moment had ever happened to me I would have told people,â she said.
âBut it was quite extraordinary, I became very tight-lipped about it. I think I just wanted to protect it more than anything.
âI think I was really nervous, as well. It just feels like such an extraordinary privilege to be able to do this, to be able to have a baby at this age and at this time, and when it happened, I couldnât really believe it. It still feels really surreal.â
The model revealed she has been in a âconstant state of worryâ about having a baby in her late 30s, but she is feeling âless anxiety and more excitementâ as the weeks pass.
âIâve got to the point where Iâm just so excited to meet her. If I shut my eyes, I feel like I know her,â she added.
âSheâs already making me laugh, I think sheâs going to be a funny one.â
Delevingneâs sisters â 32-year-old model Cara and 39-year-old socialite Chloe â were âelatedâ when they found out there would be a new addition to the family, and spent Christmas getting excited together.
âWe were all in New York, with each other and with the bump and there was a lot of talking to the bump, stroking the bump. Theyâre just elated,â she said.
Delevingne was previously married to businessman James Cook, having met him when she was 20 years old, and they split around 15 years later.
She previously suggested the âstigmaâ of becoming a divorcee was the reason her marriage did not end sooner.
The actress, who appeared in Kingsman: The Golden Circle and Riviera, also reportedly dated Prince Constantine Alexios of Greece and Denmark.
