Donald and Melania Trump share first dance at Commander in Chief ball
President Donald Trump and his wife Melania embraced as they danced together during three balls to kick off hims presidency.
First, the couple started the night's events at the Commander in Chief Ball before taking the stage at the nearby Liberty Ball, where they danced with the rest of the Trump family. To finish the night, they were escorted by motorcade to Union Station for the Starlight Ball. Trump told the crowd at the second ball that they needed three events because "we have such support".
Wearing a black and white dress custom-made by Hervé Pierre, Melania swayed with Trump during their first slow dance to The Battle Hymn of the Republic played by the US Marine Band. After a few turns on the stage, Vice President JD Vance and his wife Usha joined them.
Uniformed members of the military then came on stage and danced with each of them. The Commander in Chief ball is held in honour of the six branches of the US military.
Before leaving the stage at the ball, troops stationed in South Korea appeared on screens as Trump asked them: "How are we doing over there. How's Kim Jong Un doing?"

He then drew a sword and cut in to an Air Force One cake - which had been baked into the shape of the aircraft that President Joe Biden had rejected. He then took the sword and briefly danced on stage, with Vance commenting: "The Secret Service is getting very nervous."
The romantic display came after Melania was spotted displaying her true feelings for her husband during his inauguration yesterday, according to body language analyst Judi James. Melania Trump is pictured smiling beneath her huge hat - an unusual gesture - as she revealed her true feelings for husband Donald yesterday.

Snapped leaving church during Donald's inauguration, Melania, 54, shielded her eyes with the brim of her hat but could still be seen smiling warmly. This displayed "an air of relaxed confidence," according to body language expert Judi James.
She said: "As they leave the service, Donald and Melania amplify their clasped hands into a more pronounced display of unity. Trump lifts the clasp higher a few times, almost waving it as they walk towards their car, as though signalling both pride in his wife and a gentlemanly concern for her as they step off the curb.
“Trump’s expression is familiar – the slightly stern, almost baleful look that mirrors his official portrait. Melania, in contrast, seems determined to inject a touch of celebration into the occasion. Though her eyes are shielded by the brim of her hat, her wide, toothy smile creates an air of relaxed confidence."
