Prince Harry's strange comment about Prince Archie leaves royal fans baffled
Prince Harry has spoken about his son's interest in landmines which gave the prince a chance to have a conversation about his mum, Diana.
At the Invictus Games, Prince Harry shared his eldest son's curiosity about landmines, which has sparked a baffled response from royal fans.
During a candid conversation, the father-of-two spoke about a "very interesting conversation" between himself and his five-year-old son, Prince Archie, who has remained at their home in California during the Invictus Games. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex are currently in Vancouver for the first-ever edition of the Winter Invictus Games.
Harry explained: "Archie was asking about landmines, so I was talking about how some of these guys [Invictus Games participants] were blown up.
"I think IEDs [improvised explosive devices] are probably a bit too much at this point, but I found myself talking to him about mines when he was 5 years old."
Royal fans have shared their thoughts on X about Harry's candid conversation. One said: "I refused to believe that Archie asked about land mines."
Another speculated about the conversation: "What 5-year-old even knows about land mines?"
A third questioned: "Show me a 5-year-old that would instigate a conversation about land mines?"
Another added: "That kid is advanced yo. Crocodile as a first word...getting a waffle maker and camera...now he's taking up landmine issues."
However, others could understand, why Harry would shed light on the issue, given he was attending the Invictus Games for military veterans.
One spectator added: "That's the best way to teach kids about their ancestors and it also served the purpose of possibly inspiring in little Archie an interest in taking up the cause someday. Very nice conversation to be having at #InvictusGames2025."
The conversation with Harry then turned to Princess Diana, who famously walked through a landmine field in Angola that was being cleared by the Halo Trust to raise awareness of the issue in 1997.
"Interestingly, it gave me a chance to talk about my mum, his grandma, which I didn't even really consider," Harry said. "That became the outcome of the story for him. He wanted to see videos and photographs of his Grandma Diana out doing her thing for landmines all those years ago."
Twenty-two years after Princess Diana's historic visit, Prince Harry continued her work to clear dangerous landmines around the world by making a similar walk. Sporting protective gear and a visor like his mother, the Duke of Sussex visited a Halo Trust mine site in Angola in September 2019.
Commenting on Archie being spoken to about Princess Diana, a fan on X said: "Isn't this absolutely fantastic. They are growing up knowing their grandmother. Her work. Who she was. They are embracing her. Her legacy. They will know. She is part of their lives."
