Prince William's 11p morning drink 'fights off cholesterol and cancer'
The Prince of Wales, who is second in line to the British throne, reportedly likes to keep his breakfast choices simple but healthy
Prince William's dietary habits often have fans of the royal family curious, as many would love to know how they dine. Surprisingly, his go-to morning meal is quite simple.
According to The Royal Family Channel on YouTube, the Prince of Wales enjoys a refreshing glass of apple juice with his breakfast, which typically consists of two eggs, wholemeal toast with butter and a traditional cup of tea. Apple juice is readily available in most supermarkets and doesn't break the bank.
For instance, Aldi offers a £1.09 carton containing a litre of the juice, equating to approximately 10 small glasses per pack or roughly 11p per drink. It's no surprise that the health-conscious royal chooses this nutritious start to his day.
His wife, Kate Middleton, also has similar healthy tastes. Recently, it was reported that the mum-of-three opts for a 53p superfood snack that has been found to reduce the signs of ageing.
Apple juice boasts numerous benefits beyond its delicious taste. Given that apples are predominantly water-based, their juice is an excellent hydration source.

Comprising 88% water, apple juice is particularly beneficial for those prone to dehydration or feeling under the weather. Moreover, apple juice provides internal health benefits, with compounds found in apples and their juice potentially aiding in slowing down processes linked to heart disease, reports the Mirror.
However, a report by Healthline suggests that the majority of these beneficial compounds are found in the apple peel, with some still present in juice form. One such compound is polyphenol, which may prevent LDL (bad cholesterol) from causing havoc in your bloodstream and arteries.
Elevated levels of LDL have been linked to an increased risk of heart disease, strokes, and heart attacks. High cholesterol often doesn't exhibit any symptoms, particularly in its early stages, earning it the moniker 'silent killer'. The only way to determine if you have high cholesterol is through a blood test.
A study discovered that when healthy adults consumed 375ml of clear apple juice daily for six weeks, their LDL cholesterol became 20% more resistant compared to the beginning of the study. Another research study found similar benefits in women and the level of antioxidants in their blood after drinking apple juice.

Apple juice could also offer potential protection against Alzheimer's disease and other neurodegenerative diseases due to its nutrient content. It's also been linked to better digestion and bowel movement regulation because of the fibre level.
It's also brimming with antioxidants that may protect against age-related eye disorders. Experts have found that an apple's malic acid content may assist the liver in toxin removal.
While apple juice has been found to have several health benefits, it also comes with a few drawbacks. Many experts agree that consuming a raw apple is often the healthier option as the juicing process can eliminate some of the fruit's beneficial properties.
Additionally, due to its high sugar content, apple juice should be consumed in moderation to prevent potential weight gain. It's also advisable to brush your teeth after drinking fruit juice.
Experts claim there is a clear link between drinking fruit juice and tooth decay. This is likely due to the sugars in the juice, which can erode tooth enamel. The longer your teeth are exposed to sugar, the more likely you’ll get cavities.
