Rashford reveals why he chose to join Aston Villa and makes Man United admission
Marcus Rashford has left Man United to join Aston Villa on loan for the remainder of the season.
Marcus Rashford has claimed the "constant ambition" shown by Aston Villa is what attracted him to move to Villa Park on loan from Manchester United.
Villa announced the arrival of Rashford on Sunday evening, confirming they have signed him on loan for the remainder of the season. It is understood they will initially cover at least 75 per cent of his £325,000 weekly salary.
Villa also have the option to sign the England international on a permanent basis this summer. His switch to Villa Park marks the first time he has represented any other club than United in his career.
Having been frozen out by Ruben Amorim at Old Trafford in recent weeks, Rashford will be keen to make up for lost time in the Midlands. He has joined a club that is currently eighth in the Premier League table and recently progressed to the Champions League last 16.
And winning European football's top club prize is what the 27-year-old is striving to achieve during his time at Villa Park.
Speaking to Villa TV, Rashford said: "I think it is clear that we are still in the Champions League and we want to go as far as we can in that. If you don't aim to win it, you're never going to win it; that will be my main objective.
"I am definitely excited. It is an ambitious time for this club and a great opportunity for me to join the team and help them keep pushing forward.
"I am excited, I can't wait for the first training session and obviously the first game."
On what he will bring to Villa's squad, Rashford continued: "Just my skill set. I know I can hurt teams.

"I know when I am playing at my best, I can decide football games, so that will be my only ambition and goal to help the team win more games, more points and hopefully create history."
Villa have gone from strength to strength since appointing Unai Emery as their head coach in October 2022 and Rashford is relishing working with him.
"I think he is a top manager and what he has done with the club since he has come to Villa is unbelievable," Rashford added. "It is the constant ambition that is attractive and why you want to join such a club.
"You want to keep improving year-on-year and that is what the team has been doing this year."
On leaving United for the first time in his career, the England international concluded: "This is obviously my first time playing for any other team so you don't really know what to expect. It has been excitement more than being scared of coming into a new environment, so it has all been exciting."
