Renée Zellweger has lifted the lid on why she decided to take a six-year break from acting.
The two-time Oscar winner was drawn in a new interview on why she stepped back from the limelight between 2010 to 2016 despite being at the top of her game.
âI was sick of the sound of my own voice,â she told British Vogue. âWhen I was working, I was like, âOh, my gosh, listen to you. Are you sad again, Renée? Oh, is this your mad voice?â It was a regurgitation of the same emotional experiences.â
The Texan-born star also divulged how she busied herself in that time, telling the publication: âI wrote music and studied international law. I built a house, rescued a pair of older doggies, created a partnership that led to a production company, advocated for and fundraised with a sick friend, and spent a lot of time with family and godchildren and driving across the country with the dogs. I got healthy.â
Sheâs set to return to the big screen next month when she reprises the role of Bridget Jones for the fourth film in the beloved franchise.
Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy is due for release on Valentineâs Day and will see Bridget re-enter the dating game as a widow and single mum-of-two young children.
The latest outing comes almost nine years after the previous installment, Bridget Jonesâ Baby, and a lot of familiar faces are back, including Hugh Grant as Bridgetâs love rat ex Daniel Cleaver, her friends Tom (James Callis), Jude (Shirley Henderson) and Shazza (Sally Phillips), Emma Thompson as gynaecologist Dr Rawlings and Jim Broadbent as Bridgetâs father.
There are also some new additions to the cast, including One Dayâs Leo Woodall, who stars as a potential new love interest for Bridget, and Chiwetel Ejiofor portraying the headteacher of her two children and who is also vying for her affections.
