New reports provide an update on Alexa Blissā return at WWE Royal Rumble.
Bliss had been absent since WWE Royal Rumble 2023. During her time away, she announced her pregnancy, welcomed her daughter into the world. Bliss was reportedly set to return on the January 13th episode of WWE RAW, but the plans were nixed due to a contract dispute. Heading into WWE Royal Rumble, Bliss and WWE were reportedly far apart on a new deal.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful (via Fightful Select) reports that the return of Alexa Bliss was a late decision. Sapp wrote that the reports about Blissā status the week of the Royal Rumble were accurate.
The report notes that as of the start of WWE Royal Rumble, other participants had no idea that Alexa Bliss would be competing. Per Sapp, Bliss was not at the rehearsals on Friday, and another talent was slated for her spot.
Sapp writes that Shotzi was initially planned for the Royal Rumble, which would have been her first main roster appearance since the Royal Rumble in 2024. The report also notes that Shotziās run in NXT has been to give her reps to prepare for a main roster return. Sapp writes that sources didnāt hold anything against Alexa Bliss, and they were happy to see her back. However, some felt bad about the way the situation played out for Shotzi.
Dave Meltzer also addressed the situation on Wrestling Observer Radio. He noted that heading into WWE Royal Rumble, Blissā contract was coming up, and he believed that WWE didnāt want to have her return before they agreed to a new deal. He also said that multiple sources indicated that Bliss had signed a new deal.
Masked J of Bodyslam.net/PWNexus reported that Alexa Bliss signed a new deal the day of WWE Royal Rumble, as the two sides reached an agreement.
