Sir Rod Stewart's son has revealed why he's checked into rehab.
Sean, the third of Rod's eight children, was admitted to Cliffside Malibu rehab on Tuesday following reports that his family intervened in his life. Now, the 44-year-old has spoken about the true reason why he's at the clinic and how he hopes to inspire other people who may be in a similar position.
Reports had earlier speculated that Sean, who has a history of addiction had relapsed and was seeking treatment but he's been keen to share that this is not the case. Instead, he's revealed that the true reason he's in the facility is down to childhood issues and a neurodiverse condition.
In a heartbreaking admission, Sean revealed that he's struggled with ADHD and dyslexia since a child, with some calling him "Stupid Stewart." He adds that it's been "painful" for him to cope with the conditions which he has been dealing with for "decades."

Speaking to the MailOnline, he said: "I am here to deal with the pain that I had in my childhood that stemmed from suffering from ADHD and an overall feeling that I can't succeed in life. I am in therapy now, I am focusing on working through the problems." ADHD, known officially as Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder has symptoms which include attention, hyperactivity and impulsivity.
Despite having starred on a string of TV shows and having a successful business, Sean admits he's never felt as though he is "enough." "Just because I have struggled with ADHD and dyslexia does not mean that I cannot have a successful life and I am learning how to cope with it now," he commented.
Sean admits he's "grateful" that he's in a position where he can take a step back from his business in order to "better" himself for his friends and family. "I am dealing with he pain so I can be a more self-confident man," he said, before explaining that one day he hopes to become a dad and being in the facility will help him to thrive as a better person.
Despite his family getting involved, a source claimed that Sean "voluntarily checked in" on his own accord, adding: "Rod is proud of him for getting help. He is expected to do a 90 day stay, which is the norm." The rehab centre describes itself as "luxury" on its website, and adds that it "wants our residents to feel like they are staying in a high-end boutique hotel."
Sean's treatment at Cliffside Malibu comes after his first rehab stint when he was just 19. The actor tragically overdosed soon after the rehab stay. The reality TV star has been to rehab several times since then, and previously revealed how his drugs struggle started at high school in California. "I would go to parties at that age and drink and smoke cannabis and cigarettes. It was very easy for me to get drugs.
"I would just walk into a party and someone would hand them to me. I hardly ever paid for them. First, I got really badly into ecstasy. Then I started on the prescription pills like Vicodin, and then cocaine. And finally I got into heroin."
