Ruben Amorim has discovered an unlikely Manchester United partnership
Man United head coach Ruben Amorim has overseen a tactical switch in recent weeks - and it has shown signs of paying off.

This afternoon's visit of Fulham to Old Trafford will mark the first of five matches Manchester United must navigate their way through in just 15 days.
It means head coach Ruben Amorim is going to have use all the players he has available to him to ensure he keeps his team as fresh as possible. However, there is a chance he could be without up 11 first-team players for this afternoon's FA Cup fifth round tie.
As a result, it means he is going to be restricted in the number of changes he can make following the 3-2 victory over Ipswich Town in the Premier League in midweek. Despite playing more than a half with 10 men, United dug deep to secure a vitally important three points.
Amorim will be forced into at least one change this afternoon, with Patrick Dorgu missing out through suspension. Amorim also faces an anxious wait on Alejandro Garnacho.
"He has a knock," Amorim said. "When he went to shoot, was blocked almost inside the box. He has a knock, I expect for him to be ready but we will see. I have to wait until tomorrow (Saturday)."
If he is deemed fit enough to be involved, it would be a surprise to see the Argentine start on the bench. United are very light on attacking options and Garnacho was restored to the starting XI against Ipswich, starting in the left-sided No.10 position.
Garnacho has the opportunity to make that position his own in the coming weeks. Bruno Fernandes was initially installed as Amorim's first-choice left-sided No.10 after the latter's appointment in November, but he has transitioned back into midfield in recent weeks, rarely being tasked with starting in the forward line.
However, Fernandes was reinstated to the left-sided No.10 role for last Saturday's 2-2 draw with Everton after Manuel Ugarte and Casemiro were deployed in midfield. United lacked control and only found it once the Portuguese international dropped deeper in the second half.

Their respective qualities compliment each other, with Ugarte doing the dirty work and Fernandes offering the creativity.
Fernandes admitted in the past he could envision himself evolving into a midfielder that operates deeper as his career developed. United have recently had more control when he has operated from one of the two No.8 roles.
Right now Amorim does not have an awful lot of flexibility. Casemiro does not suit his system, Christian Eriksen has struggled for minutes and both Mason Mount and Mainoo remain sidelined.
Nevertheless, Ugarte and Fernandes have shown signs of promise as a midfield paring, and it could be a partnership Amorim persists with.
