Ryan Gosling is headed back to the top of the box office! The beloved actor gained a new fanbase from a galaxy far, far, away when it was announced he would star in the upcoming film Star Wars: Starfighter.

Ryan Gosling Confirmed as âStar Wars: Starfighterâ LeadShawn Levy, who will direct the film, had the crowd at Star Wars Celebration Japan roaring when he addressed chatter surrounding the potential cast and storyline of Star Wars: Starfighter.
âOne of those rumors, that I need to dispel, is that my movie was going to star Ryan Gosling,â Shawn said into the mic on stage. âBelieve me, that would be a dream come true for me. So, today, I just wanted to tell you here in this room that that rumor is 100 percent true.â
Smoke fog filled the stage behind the Stranger Things director, which set the stage for Ryanâs surprise appearance. The Barbie star, who was greeted by a massive outroar by fans, looked fashionable in his casual attire.
Ryan donned light wash jeans and an off-white T-Shirt that was leveled up by a chic white cropped jacket and combat-esque shoes. The Oscar-nominated actor completed the look with his navy blue âNever Tell Me The Oddsâ hat, paying homage to Harrison Fordâs character, Han Solo, in Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back.
Ryan and Harrison became good pals after starring in Blade Runner 2049 in 2017.
The audience cheered long enough for Ryan to greet his colleagues on stage before they stood next to one another and soaked in the epic moment.

âThis is a picture that my mom sent of my bed sheets when I was 5. Yes, she still has them, obviously,â Ryan shyly said while charming the audience. âNaturally, she thought it might be something that the fans would abbreviate but, I suspect that she just sort of wants to justify years of hoarding.â
What Is âStar Wars: Starfighterâ About?The film will take place roughly six years after Star Wars: Episode Nine.
âStarfighter is not a sequel, itâs not a prequel, itâs a new standalone adventure with new characters taking place in a new time period,â Shawn told MuseTV alongside Ryan.

âLike Ryan said earlier, it formed my idea of what movies really are, and itâs not just that these movies gave me movie memories â they gave me life memories,â the Deadpool & Wolverine producer later continued. âThey literally taught me a cinematic language, a storytelling language that I reference constantly. So, itâs a little bit surreal to now get to do it ourselves.â
Ryan, for his part, teased that Star Wars: Starfighter is full of âheart,â âhumorâ and âadventure.â
