SZA Made Drew Barrymore Emotional With This Touching Revelation
The "Good Days" singer was excited to tell her story.
SZA just had a full-circle moment with Drew Barrymore.
While appearing on âThe Drew Barrymore Show,â SZA shared an emotional connection with the host â one that spanned back to 2017, when the singer released a song named âDrew Barrymore.â
âI was so excited when I heard the song with my name in the title,â Barrymore said.
SZA quickly responded, saying it was âinspiredâ by Barrymoreâs âenergy,â not just her name.

âI wrote you this letter that I never sent you,â SZA said. âIt talked about, I guess, when youâre younger and a Black woman, thereâs not a lot of examples all the time â and one of the few lovely white women that I looked up to so much on television, it was you, because you were so yourself,â she said.
Barrymoreâs unapologetic nature resonated with SZA, she said, the âCharlieâs Angelsâ actor was always herself. That helped give the singer free reign to accept her flaws.
âIt just reminds me of all of the things about myself that make me nervous, but on you, it shines so brightly,â SZA said, getting emotional.
