Saturday Kitchen's Matt Tebbutt red-faced as he admits 'I'm struggling' on air
Saturday Kitchen star Matt Tebbutt was left red-faced as he introduced the show with Stacey Dooley and wine expert Helen McGinn, only to suffer a major blunder
Matt Tebbutt struggles to get his words out on Saturday Kitchen
BBC presenter Matt Tebbutt had a bit of a tongue-twister moment during the latest episode of Saturday Kitchen. As he welcomed guest Stacey Dooley to the show on Saturday morning (March 22), he stumbled over his words.
He commented: "Stacey, as you know, you've been here before, food- foo-fu-" This caused Stacey and Helen McGinn to burst into laughter.
‌
Article continues belowIn an embarrassed reaction, Matt covered his face with his hands and promised to try again. Helen couldn't resist teasing him, asking: "Have you done this before?"
Attempting to recover, he tried to repeat his sentence, saying: "Now, Stacey. You've-" But he tripped over his words again, sending the cast and crew into fits of laughter.
‌
Exasperated, he exclaimed: "I'm struggling! Food heaven, food hell at the end of the show, what's setting your world on fire?!"
Stacey couldn't resist pointing out his slip-up, joking: "You've been on the wine already." When asked about her food heaven, she told the BBC host she was enjoying salty food with capers, anchovies and tomatoes, reports the Express.
As for her food hell, the 38-year-old admitted it would be pork. She explained to Matt: "I'm not in my pork era. I'm not eating loads of meat at the minute. I'm not a vegetarian, but I'm not eating a lot of meat.
‌
"Anything that I'm sort of chewing and chewing and chewing, I think, 'I've got things to do!'" As the series wound down, it was Matt's turn to unveil which dish the audience had voted for Stacey to tackle.
To her dismay, BBC viewers had selected her most dreaded option again, just like in her previous appearance on the show. Matt, however, admitted he was chuffed with the outcome as it made his job easier.
‌
Sharing the poll results with Stacey, Matt revealed that a decisive 56 per cent of people had chosen her nightmare dish. Her response: "It was quite close!"
The moment Stacey sampled the cuisine, her dissatisfaction was palpable as he asked: "You happy?" Stacey managed to force down a bite of the pork and mustered: "I'm grateful."
Article continues belowMatt, undeterred and chuckling, took her comment in stride.
Saturday Kitchen continues Saturday's on BBC One from 10am.
It's been a wake-up call.
