SCOTLAND is among the hottest places in Europe after bitterly cold winter temperatures take a dramatic swing into the teens.
Weather maps revealed that Kinloss, in Moray, peaked at 14C this morning, making the northeast coast one of the warmest spots in the whole of Europe.

Northern and western Scotland are experiencing unseasonably high temperatures for January with the town of Wick also reaching 13.2 on the mercury and parts of the Highlands feeling a balmy 11 to 12C.
Scotland is the warmest part of the UK with London only reaching 9C this morning.
In Europe, the Sicilian town of Syracuse clocked in at 13.1C, whereas Gibraltar is around 12.8C.
Even the Spanish Balearic islands only saw 11C in the January sun.

Only Barcelona could compete with the heat in Scotland, reaching 14.3C at 8 am on Wednesday morning.
Forecasters also said that the best of the sunshine today would be in northern Scotland.
However, the better weather won't be around for long as fresh snow and ice warnings are set to return.
Scots hoping they had finally escaped the winter misery are in for more bad news - as it appears the big freeze plaguing the country is not over.

It has been a bone-chilling start to 2025, with Scotland slip-sliding through sub-zero temperatures, ferocious winds, and back-to-back snow and ice warnings.
But even more winter woes will descend on the nation, with more snowfall and freezing temperatures on the way.
UK braces for flooding with 'rapid thaw' of melting snow and ice into next week
Some parts of Scotland could see up to 12 inches of snowfall every hour as the fresh winter system moves in, according to WXCharts.
The first dusting of the white stuff will arrive in the northeast later this month.
Tayside, Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire will be hit my minor snowfall on Saturday January 25.
But throughout the day, a larger snow system will drift in from the southeast and bring even more flurries.
By the end of January 25, most of Scotland is expected to be covered in snow.
The northeast will see the worst of the weather, with up to 20cm falling every HOUR near Dundee.
Parts of the Central Belt will also be hit by snowfall, with Glasgow, Lanarkshire, Edinburgh, the Lothians and the Borders all being hit.

Things will worsen on Sunday, with more snow blasting Scotland, with up to 27cm falling each hour.
Rain will move in on Sunday to replace the snowfall, but Scots won't be out of the woods. Freezing temperatures will mean snow will remain on the ground.
