Jane Kibble, awards manager for Loo of the Year, said: “They scored 100 per cent in two of its four categories and 95 percent in the other two.
“It just shows that shopping centres have upped their game, especially since Covid which improved hygiene precautions.
“The overall wow factor at Livingston impressed judges from the moment they walked in.

MY VIEW
SO are Livingston’s bogs really better than King Charles’s thrones?
I visited the toilets in The Centre, which look more like modern airport loos rather than dingy department store conveniences.
For starters there’s plenty of space, including inside the cubicles which are extra wide, with huge toilet paper dispensers that hopefully means users won’t ever go without.
Then there’s the seats themselves, which also have a smaller inset for toddlers to sit on without disappearing with a splash, along with an automatic self-flush function.
The wash basin offered instant hot water and all the soap dispensers were full - I checked.
While the Blow Motion hand dryers are so strong there’s no need to wipe your hands on your trousers as usual.
They are also regularly serviced with a cleaner arriving just as I was leaving.
These toilets certainly aren’t bog-standard - in fact they’re fit for a King.
Sales assistant Amy Longworth, 22, from Newscastleton, The Borders, has worked for Lush in The Centre since 2021.
She said: “I’ve used all the loos in The Centre and they’re always clean. There are also loads of cubicles so you never have to wait.”
However, locals Fiona Robertson, 55, and daughter Charlotte Robertson, 25, believe the judges should be heading for the Tower after declaring Livingston’s bogs were better than The King’s.

Retired Fiona added: “They always smell. I bet King Charles’s loos don’t smell half as bad as these ones.”
