The White House X account sparked controversy by releasing a video that took a swing at Selena Gomez, suggesting it to be a bold move of propaganda. The pop sensation faced intense backlash last week after posting a tearful video in reaction to the deportation of Mexican immigrants, with some even outrageously demanding her own deportation.

The retaliatory video from the White House showcased mothers, whose kids were supposedly killed by illegal immigrants, lashing out at Selena and lauding President Trump. Many slammed the post as "grossly inappropriate" for using an official platform to go after a civilian, thereby endangering her by "putting a target on Selena's back" and infringing on her free speech rights.

In the now-removed footage, the acclaimed 'Only Murders in the Building' actress broke down saying: "I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry. All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don't understand. I'm so sorry. I wish I could do something but I can't. I don't know what to do. I'll try everything, I promise."

Selena, with a staggering following of over 420 million on Instagram—surpassing the entire US population—deleted the emotional clip and retorted with a pointed message, "Apparently it's not ok to show empathy for people."

In a shocking White House-produced video titled "Moms of Victims of Illegal Aliens SLAM Selena Gomez: You Didn't Cry for Our Daughters," bereaved mothers take aim at Selena Gomez. One distressed mum asserts, "What about our children who were brutally murdered and raped and beaten to death and left on the floor by these illegal immigrants? "

A second mother questions the authenticity of Gomez's emotions: "Seeing that video it's hard to believe that it's actually genuine and real because she's an actress," while a third suggests deceit is at play: "I just feel like it's a ruse to deceive people and to garner sympathy for lawlessness. No one has stood up except for us mothers to cry out about our children.", reports the Mirror US.

The mothers express their firm backing for President Trump.

Social media users were left stunned and appalled by the video, especially as it was disseminated via the official White House handle. One user vented their horror: "This is absolutely targeted harassment on a private citizen for voicing her opinion. Absolutely disgusting, unprofessional, and frankly, putting Selena in danger," before confessing, "This makes me ashamed to be an American, where I've been told my whole life that I have the freedom of speech."

Others chimed in with criticisms targeted at the appropriateness of the content, questioning "why is this on the White House page? very inappropriate and unprofessional" and lambasting whoever manages the account: "Whoever is running this page is an embarrassment. Entirely unprofessional," In simpler words, another simply stated, "this is crazy! ".

Many commenters viewed the clip as a treacherous slide into using government platforms to attack private citizens over their disapproval of state policies, amounting to nothing short of propaganda.

There's a growing concern that the Trump administration may have put Selena at risk by directly tagging her and mentioning her by name in the video, potentially inciting individuals to target the actress.
