Selena Gomez supporters slam White House for 'disgusting' video
The White House X account has been accused of using an official platform to attack Selena Gomez after sharing a video of mothers of victims of illegal immigrant
The official White House X Twitter account stirred up a storm after posting a video that seemingly attacked Selena Gomez, labelling the move as potentially propagandist. The pop star had previously been subjected to fierce criticism for releasing a tearful video in response to Mexican immigrants being deported, which led to some extreme voices ludicrously calling for her deportation.
In a provocative counter, the White House shared a video featuring mothers of victims allegedly killed by undocumented immigrants berating Selena and praising President Trump. Critics roundly condemned the post as "grossly inappropriate" accusing it of misuse of an official channel to target a private individual, thus endangering Gomez by "putting a target on Selena's back" and violating her rights to free speech.
The contentious clip, now deleted, showed the renowned 'Only Murders in the Building' star emotionally stating: "I just wanted to say that I'm so sorry. All my people are getting attacked, the children. I don't understand. I'm so sorry. I wish I could do something but I can't. I don't know what to do. I'll try everything, I promise."
With an Instagram fanbase exceeding 420 million—surpassing the total population of the United States—Selena removed her vulnerable video and countered with the resilient remark, "Apparently it's not ok to show empathy for people."
In a bombshell video released by the White House, titled "Moms of Victims of Illegal Aliens SLAM Selena Gomez: You Didn't Cry for Our Daughters," grieving mothers have lashed out at Selena Gomez.
One anguished mother demands to know, "What about our children who were brutally murdered and raped and beaten to death and left on the floor by these illegal immigrants? " Another mother casts doubt on the sincerity of Gomez's tears, stating, "Seeing that video it's hard to believe that it's actually genuine and real because she's an actress," while a third accuses her of manipulation: "I just feel like it's a ruse to deceive people and to garner sympathy for lawlessness. No one has stood up except for us mothers to cry out about our children."
The mothers are staunch supporters of President Trump. The release of the video through the official White House Twitter account has left social media users in shock and disgust, reports the Mirror.Â
One user expressed their outrage, saying, "This is absolutely targeted harassment on a private citizen for voicing her opinion. Absolutely disgusting, unprofessional, and frankly, putting Selena in danger," and admitted, "This makes me ashamed to be an American, where I've been told my whole life that I have the freedom of speech."
Others joined the conversation with criticisms aimed at the suitability of the content, questioning "why is this on the White House page? very inappropriate and unprofessional" and berating the account's manager: "Whoever is running this page is an embarrassment. Entirely unprofessional," In simpler terms, another simply exclaimed, "this is crazy! ".
Many viewers saw the clip as a dangerous descent into using government platforms to target private citizens for their disapproval of state policies, amounting to nothing less than propaganda.
There's mounting worry that the Trump administration may have endangered Selena by directly tagging her and naming her in the video, potentially provoking individuals to target the actress.
