Sexyy Red Apologizes, Deletes 'Deplorable' A.I. Dr. King Photo After His Daughter Calls Her 'Disrespectful'
After being blasted by Bernice King, for posting “distasteful” and “deplorable” AI images of MLK, Sexyy Red issued an apology.

Get it, Sexxy? Well, maybe not this time. After being blasted by Dr. Martin Luther King’s daughter, Bernice King, for posting “distasteful” and “deplorable” AI images of the civil rights leader, Sexyy Red issued an apology.
On the same day we observed Martin Luther King Jr. Day and Donald Trump was sworn into office, Sexyy Red was one of several jokers who posted AI-generated images of Dr. King.

Sexyy first shared an AI-generated image of her holding hands with him, then posted another fake image of them together at the 1963 March on Washington while holding cash.
According to Billboard, Dr. King’s daughter Bernice King was offended by the images and slammed Sexxy Redd for her “intentionally distasteful” posts directed towards her family.
“This is intentionally distasteful, dishonoring, deplorable, and disrespectful to my family and my father, who is not here to respond himself because he was assassinated for working for your civil and human rights and to end war and poverty,” Bernice tweeted.
Bernice asked Sexyy to delete the images before defending her from online attacks calling her “ghetto” and “trash.”
“Please don’t project your thoughts onto me. I don’t believe Sexyy Red to be a ‘degenerate,’ ‘ghetto,’ or ‘trash,’” wrote King. “I have spoken out in the past about the use of and comparison to either of my parents to denigrate other people.
“I just don’t understand this type of use of my father’s image (on #MLKDay, no less), in a way that does not convey what we know to be true about his service and sacrifice.”
Eventually, the St. Louis rapper took accountability for her actions and apologized to Bernice in a tweet.
“You ain’t wrong, never meant to disrespect your family my apologies. Just resposted something I saw that I thought was innocent,” Sexyy wrote before obliging Bernice’s takedown request.

“I hope you understand my concerns about the image,” she tweeted. “I know that my father has become a bit of a caricature to the world and that his image is often used with no regard to his family, his sacrificial work, or to the tragic, unjust way in which he died (a state-sanctioned assassination). Unfortunately, I regularly challenge the disregard.”
She continued,
“I earnestly wish that people would imagine what it would feel like to see their deceased, murdered father repurposed for party fliers, unjust legislation, etc.”
Dr. King fought relentlessly to ensure we all had the opportunity to chase our wildest dreams, and we all benefit from the work he did and the work Bernice continues to do. The very LEAST we can all do is keep his likeness and legacy safe.
Despite Sexyy thinking the posts were “innocent,” the political climate has made many Americans nervous that what MLK fought for could be in jeopardy in the next four years.
Simply put, let’s all read the room and remember some jokes are just better off left in the drafts.

When asked about his dark transformation in the drama, Park Hyung Sik remarked, “I think people may have a fixed image of me as an actor. So when this project was offered to me, I was amazed. I was also curious about what the director saw in me and felt grateful for the opportunity. It’s an actor’s job to show different sides, but the timing wasn’t right before, and roles like this didn’t come my way. After returning from the military and getting older, I finally found a project like this and thought I could show a new side of myself.”
Referring to the literal Korean title of the drama (Treasure Island), Park Hyun Sik described the drama's premise by saying, “I think everyone has their own ‘treasure island,’ whether it’s career success or the amount of money they want to make. But what happens if my treasure island is the same as someone else’s? When someone’s treasure island is at risk of being taken, it shows how fierce, ruthless, and even cruel people can become. That’s what this show explores. The desires and ambitions of individuals clash, leading to uncontrollable events. While filming, I spent a lot of time reflecting on what my own treasure island is and what goals I should be pursuing in life.”
When asked about acting alongside senior actor Heo Joon Ho and how Park Hyung Sik's portrayal of his character Seo Dong Joo appeared relaxed and understated, he replied, “It was an honor to work with Heo Joon Ho. I learned a lot from him, but I saw Yum Jang Sun [Heo Joon Ho’s character] and Seo Dong Joo as characters with different energies. Instead of thinking, ‘I’ll exude an energy that won’t be overwhelmed by Yum Jang Sun,’ I focused on staying true to Dong Joo’s emotions. Since Dong Joo tends to think things through, I portrayed him with a calm demeanor. In the end, I think the contrast in our energy levels helped create tension in our scenes.”
Describing his character, Park Hyung Sik said, “I see him as somewhat arrogant. He has a photographic memory, so when he sees a scene or a document, it’s like it’s imprinted in his mind. He’s confident and uses his skills to chase his ambitions. But while he’s smart, he’s not always wise, and sometimes he ends up backing himself into a corner.”
When told that many believe this project could be a turning point in Park Hyung Sik’s acting career, the actor replied, “I hope so. I actually wanted to take on a role like this in my late 20s, but it didn’t happen. At the time, I thought I was an adult, but looking back, I was probably still a bit immature! After returning from the military and gaining more life experience, I found myself in a project like this, and I’m thankful for that. I think going through hardships helps a person mature. When I watched the monitor this time, I noticed how much my face has changed. It feels like there’s a right time for everything.”
When asked about his goals as an actor, Park Hyung Sik said, “There are many roles I want to take on, but if I think about my identity and the path I’ve followed so far, I'd have to say James McAvoy in M. Night Shyamalan’s ‘Split.’ As an actor, I want to break free from a fixed image and push beyond it.” He further explained, “I found his portrayal of multiple personalities in ‘Split’ truly remarkable. It’s not necessarily that I want to play a role like that, but I want to be an actor like him—someone who constantly seeks new challenges and is always eager to grow. The most exciting and rewarding moments for me come when I push myself to break free from my own experiences and emotional boundaries, striving to become a better actor.”
When asked whether acting is what Park Hyung Sik enjoys most at the moment, he replied, “While acting on set, I’ve never really thought, ‘This is so fun’ or ‘I’m enjoying myself so much,’ but people around me often say it looks like I’m having a great time. So I realize, ‘Oh, I must really be enjoying this.’”
