Shannen Doherty was one of several high-profile stars who were left out of the 2025 Oscars' "In Memoriam" segment â and her rep is speaking out.
The late Beverly Hills 90210 star â who passed away in July 2024 at age 53 after a years-long battle with cancer â was notably missing from the 97th Academy Awards' tribute to industry greats who have died over the past year. While the Sunday, March 2 awards show honored late celebrities like Gene Hackman, Kris Kristofferson, Gena Rowlands and more, several big stars were absent from the segment â notably, Doherty, Michelle Trachtenberg, Tony Todd and Olivia Hussey.
A rep for Doherty told TMZ the following day that "it was really disappointing not to see her included in the tribute Sunday night," the outlet reported, "especially since she had been a part of the Hollywood community for over 45 years."

The Charmed actress' rep's response to the omission echoes fan reactions across social media.
"No Shannen Dohertyâstar of one of the great films HEATHERSâin the In Memoriam is an outrageous slap in the face," one person wrote via X (formerly known as Twitter). "She was a groundbreaker in the way she stood up for herself and voiced her own opinions during a time when women in the industry were supposed to keep quiet. #Oscars."
"So disappointed they didn't include Shannen Doherty in the In Memoriam segment," another fan penned. "Disrespectful, even after death. #Oscars."
"The level of disrespect is insane," a third X user agreed.
Doherty was an '80s, '90s and 2000s pop culture icon best known for her roles as Heather Duke in 1988's cult classic film Heathers, Brenda Walsh on the beloved teen soap Beverly Hills 90210, and as Prue Halliwell on Charmed.
After revealing her breast cancer diagnosis in 2015, Doherty let fans in on her years-long journey, sharing with the world all of the brutal ups and downs of the disease, all while publicly advocating for cancer research and awareness.
