Strictly's Shirley Ballas has revealed the controversial eating habit she uses to maintain her weight at 64.
Strictly Come Dancing head judge Shirley Ballas has revealed the extreme eating tip that helps her maintain her size 10 figure at the age of 64.
The former dancer says she keeps herself in shape by eating just one meal a day.
She said: “The first year on the Strictly Come Dancing tour, I gained 10 pounds just in that one month. Then I realised you cannot eat breakfast, lunch and dinner, Shirley, you are over the age of 60!”
Shirley explained that she skips breakfast and has a juice around lunchtime. She then eats one meal at around 5 pm, which typically consists of rice alongside lean chicken or beef.
She added to The Sun: “I do intermittent fasting. I’ve realised the body doesn’t need as much food as I keep stuffing in my face, so I do take care of it.”
Shirley stars in Holly Willoughby and Bear Grylls's Netflix series, Celebrity Bear Hunt, and found herself in a heated exchange with Mel B.
In the third episode, Shirley became irritated with Mel B's habit of making inflammatory comments to her fellow campmates, only to dismiss them as jokes. Shirley expressed: "I can let somebody be a diva for so long until I feel someone else is being picked on. I've dealt with divas in my industry all my life. There's nothing that could shock me.
"But when you're living together and can't retreat to your own home, all you ask for is mutual respect. If someone keeps pushing buttons just to get a reaction, I don't like that. I think it's completely unnecessary - though I know it makes great TV.”
The tension heightened even more in the fourth episode when Shirley's team triumphed over Mel's team in a challenge named Walk The Plank, where participants had to traverse water filled with critters, reports the Mirror.
The Spice Girl was far from happy and made her feelings clear to Shirley when they returned to camp later that day.
Mel remarked to Shirley: "We all have to go in the pit sometimes," prompting a baffled "Excuse me?" from Shirley. Mel reiterated her point, leading Shirley to question: "What's the matter with you?
"Of course, I'm not here complaining, whining, or moaning. I'm not going to go in, so I don't really know what your point is."
The conversation escalated as they talked over each other, with Mel attempting to justify herself by saying: "I'm just talking to you." Shirley retorted sharply, "Well, you don't really talk, do you? You direct, you're in somebody's face."
To which Mel responded: "I know because I'm just who I am."
The reality competition, hosted by Holly Willoughby, throws 12 celebrities into the Costa Rican jungle to become prey for survival expert Bear Grylls.
The lineup is further bolstered by retired tennis champion Boris Becker, Steph McGovern, The Saturdays’s Una Healy and The Inbetweeners star Joe Thomas.
