Kay Burley admitted she "doesn't know how much longer she has left" after a cancer scare led her to get genetically tested.
The 64-year-old has regularly spoken about her worries relating to the threat cancer poses. The disease killed her mother, her aunt, and her grandmother.
Kay, who signed-off from Sky News after 36 years today, had a cancer scare a few years ago, reports The Times. She said: "My sister Jacqueline was diagnosed with breast cancer last year.
"She's my kid sister, she's got two grandchildren under three and, to be honest, I wish I had it instead of her. I would rather it was me than her."

During her final years at Sky News, Kay didn't shy away from discussing her health struggles. She recounted a significant change she had to make in 2023 after a frightening incident where she "woke up covered in blood", reports the Express.
She described her morning routine, which involved waking up at 3.17am, sitting up to take a breath, and then turning on the lightsâa step she stressed as "very important" after one terrifying morning when she "jumped out of bed" and later found herself on the bathroom floor. Kay explained that she was taking medication to "lower her blood pressure", unaware that "the menopause lowers it further", leading to her fainting in the shower.
Kay Burley had to take a day off from Sky News following an incident. The veteran broadcaster announced her departure after an impressive 36-year run, during which she was at the forefront as the channel launched back in 1989.
Throughout her tenure with Sky News, Kay covered massive world events, including reporting on 12 General Elections, Diana's death, and the terror of 9/11. Reflecting on her career during her last show, Kay shared aspirations for the future, saying: "From a standing start to one of the most recognised and valued brands in global news, it's been an honour and privilege to work with some of the best and hardest working teams in the business."
"News by its very nature is often devastating and together we've covered so many life-changing events - from the tragic death of Diana, the shocking terror attack of 9/11; the Asian Tsunami; the Concorde air disaster."

Wrapping up her final broadcast, Kay expressed her parting words: "So, after covering 12 separate general elections - including Sir Keir Starmer's victory last year - I am retiring from Sky News - let politicians of every party just rejoice at that news!"
