Snoop Dogg Responds to Criticism Over His Inauguration Performance at 'Crypto Ball'
Rapper Snoop Dogg is seemingly shrugging off the backlash after performing at the first-ever "Crypto Ball."
Artists from multiple genres are helping usher in Donald Trumpâs presidential inauguration, set to take place Monday (Jan. 20.) Country star Carrie Underwood will perform âAmerica the Beautiful. Additionally, legendary disco group Village People is set to deliver their signature hit âY.M.C.A.â The festivities have already begun with Fridayâs (Jan. 17) first-ever Crypto Ball, which seemingly signals a friendlier approach to the industry from the incoming administration. Rapper Snoop Dogg headlined the nightâs entertainment, along with Rick Ross and Soulja Boy. Snoop has come under fire for performing at an event celebrating Trumpâs inauguration. However, the âDrop It Like Itâs Hotâ rapper appears unfazed.
Trump did not attend the inaugural Crypto Ball. However, multiple sources describe the event as a celebration of the president-electâs support for cryptocurrency. The gala featured performances from Snoop Dogg, Soulja Boy, and Rick Ross.
Some fans were surprised to see the âGin and Juiceâ rapper lend his voice to the event, as Snoop has been critical of the president-elect in the past. Many took to social media to express their opinion on Snoop Doggâs decision to perform.
However, the Grammy Award winner, 53, seemed to shrug off the backlash. A video of Snoop beside Ross shows the West Coast legend (real name: Calvin Broadus, Jr.) decked out in a suit, tie and dark sunglasses.
âGot a real Crip up in the Crypto Ball, bang bang,â Snoop said, flashing a peace sign at the camera.
Itâs worth noting that the West Coast icon has previously invested in the digital asset industry. He first ventured into cryptocurrency in 2021.

Like Snoop Dogg, Carrie Underwood has faced online backlash for her upcoming âAmerica the Beautifulâ performance at Donald Trumpâs presidential inauguration. The âBefore He Cheatsâ singer previously shared a statement about her decision with People magazine.
âI love our country and am honored to have been asked to sing at the inauguration and to be a small part of this historic event,â she said. ââI am humbled to answer the call at a time when we must all come together in the spirit of unity and looking to the future.â
