Snoop Dogg responds to backlash over Trump Crypto Ball: "I'm still a Black man, still 100 per cent Black"
Snoop Dogg clapped back at the backlash for performing at the Crypto Ball to celebrate the inauguration of US President Donald Trump.
Snoop Dogg has responded to the âhateâ heâs received since performing at the Crypto Ball last week to celebrate the inauguration of US President Donald Trump.
The hip-hop icon â alongside Soulja Boy and Rick Ross â performed at the inaugural Crypto Ball in Washington DC, an event described as a âcelebratory settingâ intended to honour âAmericaâs first âcrypto presidentââ. Snoop instantly received backlash online and initially responded by uploading a video of him and Ross having fun at the ball, with the caption: âGot a real Crip up in the Crypto Ball, bang bang.â
Yesterday (January 26), the West Coast rap legend posted two videos of him smoking while driving and listening to music. Beneath the first post, many fans were disappointed that he hadnât apologised for performing at an event that honoured Trump. One person brought up his race, saying: âHeâs only black on the surface. His soul is WHITE! #cancelled.â Another commented: âNo amount of distracting us will make us forget, SnoopâŚâ
The slew of negative comments caused Snoop to post another video of him smoking while listening to âAmenâ by The Impressions. âItâs Sunday man, I got gospel in my heart,â he started. âFor all that hate, Iâm going to answer with love. Yâall canât hate enough on me. I love too much.â

He concluded by saying: âGet your life right [and] stop worrying about mine. Iâm cool, Iâm together. Still a Black man, still 100 per cent Black. All out âtil you ball out, âtil you fall out. I ainât going nowhere, cuh, Iâm right here. On crypto!â

More fans commented, explaining that they had âzero hateâ and were âjust disappointedâ by Snoopâs involvement in the event. âEverything but explain or apologise,â one wrote under the second post. âYour private life is one thing but this was public entertainment for something dangerous to the community.â
In the past, Snoop has condemned Trump for being âracistâ and compared him to the devil. His attitude towards the new President has since softened, telling The Times that he has ânothing but love and respectâ for him last January.
Soulja Boy also hit back at the backlash he received for performing at the Crypto Ball, claiming that Trump wasnât even at the event. He ranted: âFuck you mean, I do whatever the fuck I want. It wasnât even a Trump event â Trump wasnât even there,. Yâall so worried about, âHe performed: him, Snoop, and them.â Kamala didnât even win, n****. Yâall want me not to answer the phone on the motherfucking president? Yâall can suck my dick and cancel me all day.â
The Liberty Ball â another inauguration event to honour Trump â was held last week, where the likes of Carrie Underwood, Village People, Kid Rock, Billy Ray Cyrus, and Nelly performed for the POTUS. Underwood and Nellyâs streaming numbers subsequently fell after the concert.

Prior to the event, Nelly meanwhile, defended his choice to perform at the Liberty Inaugural Ball, stating: âIâm not doing this for money, Iâm doing this âcause itâs an honour,â he said. âI respect the office. It donât matter whoâs in office.â
Singer-songwriter Jewel was also criticised for her involvement in the Liberty Ball, so she took to Instagram to explain why she performed: âNone of us can afford to stop fighting, and I really believe that the only way we can change is in relationship. It isnât in isolation or by isolating, itâs by being in relationship, by reaching out, by having hard conversations, and I really hope that we can push through our hurt and move toward understanding on both sides.â
Donald Trump was inaugurated into office on January 20 after beating Democratic candidate and former Vice President Kamala Harris in last yearâs US presidential election. This is his second time being elected into office, his first was in 2016 when he won over Hillary Clinton.
