Song Ji-hyo Addresses Criticism Over "Insincere" Acceptance Speech at 2024 SBS Entertainment Awards
Actress Song Ji-hyo addressed the backlash over her acceptance speech and clarified her intentions in a recent Instagram post.
On January 30, Song Ji-hyo posted a message on Instagram, addressing he criticism from some netizens regarding her acceptance speech at the 2024 SBS Entertainment Awards held on the previous day.
Song Ji-hyo received the Scene Stealer Award at the 2024 SBS Entertainment Awards. At the time, she appeared caught off guard by her win. When her name was called, she seemed bewildered as she walked up to the stage. Even after receiving the trophy, she admitted, âI was so out of it that I ended up winning an award,â visibly flustered.
Some netizens criticized her reaction, saying her speech was unstructured and lacked sincerity. Discussions about Song Ji-hyoâs acceptance speech controversy started circulating on social media and online communities.
Seemingly aware of the controversy, Song Ji-hyo took to Instagram to share her thoughts.
She explained, âI was in such a rush to attend the ceremony due to my filming schedule that I barely had time for fittings, hair, or makeup. Since the award was completely unexpected, I wasnât able to articulate my thoughts properly. Iâve always been a bit blunt when I speak, and in my flustered state, I probably came across as insincere.â

Song Ji-hyo then shared a more composed acceptance speech, expressing gratitude to Yoo Jae-suk, Ji Seok-jin, Haha, Kim Jong-kook, Yang Se-chan, and the staff of Running Man.
She said, âI sincerely thank the viewers and Running Man fans for selecting me for this meaningful and precious award. I will cherish it dearly. Receiving such a significant award motivates me to work even harder to bring more fun and laughter as a Running Man member. Iâll do my best to be an even better scene-stealer this year.â

I was in such a rush to attend the ceremony due to my filming schedule that I barely had time for fittings, hair, or makeup.
Since the award was completely unexpected, I wasnât able to articulate my thoughts properly. Iâve always been a bit blunt when I speak, and in my flustered state, I probably came across as insincere. So, I wanted to take this opportunity to write out my feelings again.
