Source Close to Kate Middleton Reveals How She Is Moving Forward After Cancer Journey: 'A Veil Has Been Lifted'

Back in 2024, Kate Middleton made the difficult announcement that she had been diagnosed with cancer. Although the Princess of Wales has never revealed her cancer type, she has been transparent with the public that she underwent several months of chemotherapy and is now in remission.
Kate formally announced her remission in January 2025 and said that she is excited for a “fulfilling” year ahead. A source close to the princess revealed how Kate is moving forward now that her treatment is behind her.

Eventually, about two months after her January surgery, Kate revealed that she had been diagnosed with cancer. The princess subsequently underwent chemotherapy and remained mostly out of the public eye until the end of summer 2024.
Kate announced in January 2025 that she was officially in remission, which led to an outpouring of love and support for the future queen. Now, an insider close to the queen has revealed Kate’s priorities moving forward.
“For the princess, family — her husband and children — are more important than anything else,” the source told People, also revealing that the journey was “harder” than any of them had originally thought. “She has been through a lot, and it has been a rough road. Serious illness like cancer does change you. She has a young family, and it makes you rethink everything — your purpose and what you want to do with your life.”
The princess visited the Royal Marsden Hospital, where she underwent her treatment, around Christmas time and later shared about the experience on Instagram in a heartfelt note. And at the end of the note, Kate seemed excited about the year ahead.
“As anyone who has experienced a cancer diagnosis will know, it takes time to adjust to a new normal,” part of the princess’ Instagram note read. “I am however looking forward to a fulfilling year ahead. There is much to look forward to. Thank you to everyone for your continued support.”
