Southern American city brimming with 'hidden gems' that's off the beaten path
If you're looking to avoid the usual tourist traps then Montgomery, the capital of Alabama, has been revealed as a hidden gem for UK travellers to explore
If you're seeking a holiday that unveils a different facet of the US, this southern city could be an ideal addition to your travel plans.
For those drawn to the path less trodden, Montgomery, the capital of Alabama, is a fantastic destination. Fresh research from Journeyscape has delved into the hidden treasures and lesser-known locales for travellers in search of a truly unique American escapade.
Nearly three percent of Montgomery's attractions are classified as 'hidden gems' on Tripadvisor, including the Dexter Parsonage Museum, the Hank Williams Memorial, and the Eastbrook Flea Market.
Another concealed treasure is the world's only museum dedicated to the literary power couple - F. Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald, reports the Express US.

As per Atlas Obscura, The Fitzgeralds, along with their daughter, Scottie, moved into the house at 919 Felder Avenue in autumn 1931. In the late 1930s, the home was divided into a boarding house.
Facing demolition in 1986, Julian and Leslie McPhillips rescued the property and established the Scott and Zelda Fitzgerald Museum Association, opening it to the public the following year.
The museum occupies the ground floor, with private apartments above. These flats now function as AirBnB locations, and museum admission is complimentary for overnight guests.

If you're a country music enthusiast, you might want to pay a visit to the gravesite of Hank Williams - the first ever major country star. His grave has become such a fan favourite that it's been covered in astroturf due to fans continually taking the greenery as mementos.
For those with a more macabre interest, there's also the car in which Williams was found dead. The Cadillac, used on his final tour and where his body was discovered, is now preserved at the Hank Williams Museum in Montgomery, Alabama.
If you're keen to continue exploring Alabama's hidden treasures, then head over to the largest city in Morgan County Decatur. Here, you can visit the Cook Museum of Natural Science, offering an immersive experience for both kids and adults.
Nature enthusiasts can also explore the Wheeler National Wildlife Refuge, home to a variety of animals, including Canada and snow geese, Flame Chub and River Redhorse fish, and American alligators.
