A former neighbour of Axel Rudakubana has reportedly claimed the killer was ordering packages to be delivered to other houses.
She believes he was “clearly ordering” ingredients used to make poison ricin, the BBC reported. Ricin, a biological toxin 6,000 times more poisonous than cyanide, was found when police raided Rudakubana’s home after the attack in Southport in July last year, with evidence suggesting the equipment needed for the substance was bought in 2022.
Caroline, a former neighbour of Rudakubana in Banks, Lancashire, told the broadcaster: “He was clearly ordering seeds and having them delivered to a neighbour, possibly a decoy, so that it couldn’t be traced to the address that he was living at.”
Caroline also told the BBC that she believes her cat came into contact with the ricin and began “convulsing and foaming at the mouth”. Although no toxicology test was performed on the cat, vets allegedly informed Caroline that they suspect it had been poisoned.

PA)The ricin was found in a sealed food container under Rudakubana’s bed, where officers also found a pair of safety goggles, a lab beaker and a pestle and mortar.
A bag which had contained castor seeds, used to make the substance, was also found – having been bought in 2022. The form the poison was found in was deemed to be “low to very low risk”.
Prosecutor Deanna Heer KC told Liverpool Crown Court on Thursday: “Due to the risk to public health, the search was halted until specialist protective equipment was available.”
When it was taken to the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory at Porton Down, Dr Pearce, an expert in chemical and biological warfare agents, concluded the container did indeed contain “actively toxic ricin pulp” which had been produced using equipment found in the defendant’s bedroom.
Evidence from Amazon suggests the defendant purchased the equipment in early 2022, Ms Heer said. The court heard exposure to ricin – a naturally occurring toxin – could result in death as a result of multi-organ failure and/or acute respiratory distress.
“There is no antidote (for ricin poisoning) and only a very small amount of it may be deadly,” Ms Heer said. Dr Pearce concluded that equipment in Rudakubana’s bedroom “had been used to make a crude preparation of ricin in sufficient quantities to be lethal”, Ms Heer said.
“There is no evidence that the ricin produced was ever used either during this attack or at any other time,” she added.

The stars of JTBC’s “The Tale of Lady Ok” have shared their final thoughts ahead of tonight’s series finale!
“The Tale of Lady Ok” tells the story of the intense survival con game of runaway slave Goo Deok (Lim Ji Yeon), who assumes a false identity, and Cheon Seung Hwi (Choo Young Woo), who risks everything to protect her.
With just one episode left to go, the drama’s leads took a nostalgic look back at filming and spoke fondly about what the series meant to them.
Lim Ji Yeon shared, “Even as I was playing Ok Tae Young, I found myself rooting for her. Because she’s a character for whom I felt deep affection, I think [playing her] was all the more special.”
She also expressed her gratitude to the show’s viewers, noting, “More people became invested in Ok Tae Young’s life than I’d expected, which surprised me. Many people gave me warm reviews that became a source of strength for me, so I was happy each and every day while the drama was airing.”
“I’m grateful that I was able to start 2025 while receiving love from so many people,” she continued, “and I think I’ve gained the motivation that will be my driving force as I live out this new year. I wish all of you lots of good fortune in the new year.”
Choo Young Woo commented, “While preparing for this drama, I went through many experiences that I will remember for a long time. Thanks to the admirable character of Seung Hwi, I think I was able to receive lots of interest.”
He went on, “I would like to once again thank the director for trusting me with this role, and because everyone [who worked on the drama] spent so much time pondering it and poured so much love into it, I’m truly happy that the drama ended up receiving lots of love from many people. I hope the drama will remain in viewers’ hearts as a warm memory.”
Kim Jae Won humbly remarked, “Each and every moment that I lived as Do Gyeom was a precious time that allowed me to grow as an actor.”
“I hope that the new year is full of only health and happiness for you all,” he continued, “and no matter what ups and downs come your way, I hope you will overcome them wisely, just like Ok Tae Young, Cheon Seung Hwi, Sung Do Gyeom, and Cha Mi Ryeong of the Sung family.”
Finally, Yeonwoo said, “Because ‘The Tale of Lady Ok’ was my first historical drama, I was very nervous and anxious, but thanks to all of my co-stars, I learned a lot and had a really great experience, so I think I’ll remember it for a long time.”
She concluded, “It was truly an honor to be part of such a great drama, and I’m truly grateful to all of the viewers who gave us love.”
The final episode of “The Tale of Lady Ok” will air on January 26 at 10:30 p.m. KST.
