Five Star musician Stedman Pearson has died at the age of 60, with his friends and fans sharing tributes to the 80s icon, who shot to fame in a band with his siblings

The music world is mourning the loss of Five Star's Stedman Pearson, who has sadly passed away at the age of 60.
Friends of the talented musician took to Facebook to share their heartbreak, with one writing: "Very sad to hear about the passing of my friend Stedman Pearson. Gonna miss our chats dude. I have no words. I'm in complete shock." Another pal paid tribute by saying: "Rest in peace bro Stedman Pearson too young man." Another said: "Woke up to learn of my friends passing....HE was one of the gentlest and lovely people I knew.. an awesome dancer with just a childlike zest for life.... You made a huge difference to my life and will be missed muchly!"

Before shooting to fame, he led a relatively low-key life, studying dance and fashion at college before throwing himself into the family's music venture.
It was in 1983, at the age of 19, that Stedman's father, musician Buster Pearson, decided his children should combine their talents and form a band. Five Star, often deemed Britain's answer to The Jackson Five thanks to their polished routines, striking costumes, and tight-knit family bond – a vision fostered by their father – soon became a sensation, reports the Mirror.
They sky-rocketed to stardom after hitting number 15 on the UK Singles Chart in 1985, and following up their success with a platinum-certified debut album, Luxury of Life.

The group soon splintered, with many of the siblings leaving to focus on solo careers and not reuniting as a full five-piece act again.
Fans have been sharing heartfelt tributes on social media following the sad news of the musician's passing. One fan shared their personal connection, saying: "This week i received the sad news that Stedman Pearson, the eldest of the famous Five Star eighties/nineties family quintet, has passed. I got to know him very well over 14 years, before being entrusted with his unpublished biography which was completed recently."
Another said: "Was hoping this wasn't true but I think it sadly is. Anyone who knows me know how much I love Five Star; my childhood was a magical time thanks to their music, mesmerising dance routines and of course the incredible costumes. Such a sad loss. RIP Stedman Pearson."
A fellow admirer reflected on their own fond memories: "Very sad to hear about the passing Steadman Pearson of @5starofficial - who were one of my favourite childhood music stars... Condolences to @DeniecePearson , Doris, Lorraine and Delroy," while another devastated fan posted: "I've just heard the terrible news that Five Star singer @StedmanPearson has passed away. That's a shocker! ! R.I.P Stedman, and sincere condolences to the entire Pearson family."
