Steve Clarke’s son has offered an apology after taking a swipe at Rangers after he put the Scotland manager in an "awkward position."

Queen's Park would send Philippe Clement's side crashing out of the Scottish Cup on their own patch with the Light Blues now facing the prospect of a trophyless campaign. And off the back of a humiliating, Clarke Jr took to social media to have a pop at Rangers by echoing one of his dad's famous post-match pop at the Light Blues during his stint at Kilmarnock.

Clarke would take a pot shot at the Rangers supporters as he made an emotional farewell speech at Rugby Park after securing a European football for the Ayrshire men back in 2019 with a 2-1 win over the Gkasgow giants. During an emotional farewell speech at Rugby Park, Clarke would turn to the away end an utter the now-infamous words: 'Bye, bye Rangers."

Clarke's son John would share a screengrab of the famous wave towards the away stand following their cup embarrassment. However, he now issued an apology over the comment.

Taking to X, he said: "Yesterday evening I made a post regarding the Rangers result. I've realised it was in poor taste and would like apologise for it.

"I have since removed the post. I would also like to apologise to my dad for putting him in an awkward and wholly unnecessary position.

"He had absolutely nothing to do with the post and it was my error of judgment. I made a poor joke without thinking of the consequences. That's on me and no one else."
