Sting has issued a health update to his fans after he was forced to cancel all his upcoming performances.
The former Police frontman, 73, was due to perform at the Bass Magazine Awards in California this Thursday, where he is set to be honoured with a lifetime achievement award. However, he had to postpone two of his concerts and cancelled an awards ceremony appearance on doctor's advice.
Sting has now given an update as he revealed his illness "prevented him from singing". The musician decided to explain to fans what had happened as he said: "Thanks so much for all of the well wishes. I am steadily improving from a temporary throat infection which has prevented me from singing, though Iâm looking forward to resuming my performances and rescheduled shows soon. Love, Sting."
Fans rushed to share their support as one said: "Get well soon! Sir Sting." Another added: "Thank you for letting us know. And so you know... we love you!" Someone else commented: ""Sir, you are a World Treasure. Speedy Recovery."

Yesterday, Sting postponed shows in Phoenix, Arizona, and Wheatland, California, as well as a performance at a record label's concert, which had all been scheduled for this month. A post to his social media said: "On advisement from his doctor, due to illness, it is with sincere regret that Sting must cancel his appearance at the Bass Magazine Awards this Thursday and postpone his STING 3.0 concerts in Phoenix, AZ (originally scheduled for January 24) to June 1 and Wheatland, CA (originally scheduled for January 26) to May 28 as well as his performance at the Cherrytree Music Company's 20th anniversary, now taking place May 29."
"Fans should retain their tickets for the postponed shows, as they will be honoured on the new dates. Sting sincerely apologises for any inconvenience and extends his gratitude to the fans for their understanding." The news came as shock to fans of the singer who is known for his fitness regime.
Sting - whose real name is Gordon Matthew Sumner - admitted vanity and discipline have kept him in shape over the years. He is known for practicing Ashtanga yoga and also follows a macrobiotic diet, which consists of many vegetables and grains and avoiding toxins and processed food that contains preservatives. The diet also centres around low consumption of meat, dairy and sugar.
Sting and his wife Trudie Styler moved their family to the Lake House Farm in Wiltshire in 1991, and adopted a self-sufficient diet, growing organic veggies ever since. The family have their own free range chickens, as well as their own trout lake and even bee hives for honey.
Despite the setback from his recent illness, Sting has proved he isn't thinking about slowing down as he will headline a huge summer festival. He will take to the main stage at Latitude Festival when it returns to Henham Park in Suffolk from 24-27 July 2025. The former frontman of The Police will perform hits such as Fields of Gold, Every Breath You Take and Roxanne as part of his STING 3.0 tour.
Sting as he has also been announced as a headliner at the Isle of Wight Festival and the On the Waterfront festival in Liverpool in June. The STING 3.0 world tour started in Europe last summer and recently began its North American leg in Detroit to positive reviews.
