Strictly Come Dancing's Amy Dowden admits 'I was deluded' in health admission
Amy Dowden has confessed she was not fit enough to take part in Strictly 2024
Amy Dowden appeared on Good Morning Britain to promote her upcoming tour alongside her Strictly co-star Carlos Gu, with the pair set to showcase their ballet and dance skills to audiences across the UK.
The BBC professional dancer spoke to ITV hosts Kate Garraway and Ed Balls about her road to recovery after she'd been diagnosed with stage three breast cancer in 2023 but received the news she was free from the disease in February 2024.
In November of the same year, it was announced that Amy would be taking part in the competition for the BBC glitterball trophy, alongside JLS star JB Gill, but the stint took its toll on her health.
The 34-year-old made it to week seven on the glitzy programme when complications began to arise with Amy "heartbroken" at having to withdraw from the show after collapsing backstage.

During the GMB interview with Kate and Ed, Amy explained that she'd been "deluded" in thinking she would have fully recovered from chemotherapy before Strictly.
Amy reassured that she was now feeling back to her normal self but explained that she'd only fully recovered a few months ago and after the competition had concluded.

After collapsing, fans were left fearing for Amy's health and naturally Kate and Ed wanted to make sure the Strictly star was fighting fit again.
Kate quizzed on Amy's health, with the star telling her: "I'm feeling so much stronger, fitter, especially in the last few months and since December I realised 'gosh, this is what it used to feel like'."

She added: "I think every day after chemotherapy you start to feel better and stronger but especially in the last few months, i'm pushing myself with the tour and I really do feel like I've got my strength up, my stamina and my confidence back now."
Amy was honest, believing she'd underestimated how long it would take to fully recover, stating: "I think I was deluded on the road to recovery and how long it would take for my body to heal, physically and mentally but I am just so grateful to be in the place I am now and to be on the dancefloor with my beautiful friend Carlos."
Good Morning Britain airs weekdays on ITV1, from 6am.
