Strictly's Wynne Evans 'made sexual comment' at co-star as BBC faces new scandal

Strictly Come Dancing star Wynne Evans has been caught on camera making a sexual remark to host Janette Manrara.
The Go Compare advert actor is taking part in the Strictly Live tour alongside his professional dance partner Katya Jones. He appeared at the launch of the tour in Birmingham including a photocall with all the Strictly cast. Evans stood alongside fellow celebrities JB Gill, Tasha Ghouri, Montell Douglas, Shayne Ward and Jamie Borthwick, reports the Mirror.
The stars were also joined by the Strictly professional dancers as well as Janette Manrara, who is the host on tour. As they huddled together for a photo, Evans was recorded making an inappropriate sexual comment to Janette when she walked over to the group. He sang out: "Go Compare," before adding: "Not too close to Jamie."

(Image: Getty)He then used the hugely demeaning term "spit roast" in reference to a lewd sexual act, as seen in the video published by Daily Mail. Janette's reaction was unclear as her face was momentarily covered by other Strictly stars. There was awkward laughter, with Jamie wincing as Evans appeared to snigger at his own comments.
Evans recently pulled out of the Strictly tour's Glasgow show due to an ankle injury. In a statement, Wynne told the Mirror: "My language was inappropriate and unacceptable, for which I sincerely apologise." A BBC Studios spokesperson went on to add: "We were not previously aware of the remark and did not receive any complaints. We have made it very clear to Wynne that we do not tolerate such behaviour on the tour."

The Welsh opera singer, 52, controversially placed his hand on the waist of hisprofessional dance partner before seeming to move it closer to her stomach, as she appeared to angrily brush away his hand as the pair stood side by side.
While many fans were outraged at his apparent "grope", the pair described it as a "silly inside joke". Some people, however, failed to buy the apology and explanation and have called the singer's actions inappropriate. It made Katya and Wynne even more determined to squash the backlash and they interrupted their appearance on spin-off show It Takes Two.

Katya said: "Sorry Fleur [East], sorry, I will get onto dancing I promise but can I please first get something out of the way that I feel like overshadowed our performance for absolutely no reason and quite frankly, actually, I can't bare sitting here watching this man [Wynne] being portrayed as someone he's not.
"In fact, it couldn't be further away from the truth so I have to make this absolutely clear that this whole incident with the hand and the high five on Saturday night it was an inside joke between Wynne and I. Was it a silly joke? Yes! Was it a bad joke? Yes!" At this point Wynne interjected with: "Yeah and I've watched it back, I can see how people may have misinterpreted it."

Those that have doubts, you guys have it got wrong! So hopefully this will be the end of it. You [Wynne] just keep making me smile, please!"
The dancer defended Wynne on Instagram as well as she said: "The hand incident was a very silly inside joke between Wynne and I. So even the idea that it made me feel uncomfortable or offended in any way is complete nonsense. It’s actually absurd. So let’s focus on how brilliantly Wynne Evans is doing and what an amazing dancer he’s becoming.”
Wynne had also found himself at the centre of more drama after a "vulgar" joke he allegedly made behind-the-scenes was "leaked". The opera singer is reported to have said his double chin resembled a vagina as he got his make-up done backstage. Insiders told the Mirror Wynne made the unsavoury joke ahead of the BBC's launch show and was said in a private conversation with a make-up artist.
A source told The Mirror: "It was a bit of a vulgar dad joke." At at least one other person was in the room at the time, adding the make-up artist was not offended by Wynne's joke. No official complaints were made but some staff were less than pleased. The source added: “Wynne clearly didn’t mean any offence, but you have to be a little bit careful these days.”
